Tumblr's "Following" tab algorithm is utter rubbish! But recently I made some changes to my dashboard settings and it made the world of difference! So I thought I'd share this in case it works for you too.

Tumblr's "Following" tab algorithm is utter rubbish! But recently I made some changes to my dashboard settings and it made the world of difference! So I thought I'd share this in case it works for you too.
I just found out that you can actually adjust your dashboard preferences to see everything in chronological order (duh!). The 'best first' algorithmic setting was getting on my nerve. Why would anyone want that? I was rarely checking my Dashboard for that reason. So I'm letting you guys know, just in case any of you isn't aware of it.
A tip for anyone who has recently migrated back to Tumblr: you can force your dashboard to display new posts from your followees chronologically by going into settings > dashboard and making sure "Best Stuff First" is unchecked~
PSA: as of 1/20/22, you can turn off the "Based on your likes" posts appearing on your dashboard. Go to Settings -> Account settings -> Dashboard preferences, and toggle the "Based on your likes" switch off.
HOW LONG HAS THIS BEEN THERE. AND WHY IS IT OFF BY DEFAULT.
i changed my dashboard setting last night and after getting flashed by the bright light that is ‘cement’ (keep in mind the only light in my room is my phone so yk) i settled on ‘goth rave’ and went to bed.
It is the following morning, and I actually like it a fair bit. Trying to figure out whether i dislike it it bc the color scheme or dislike the change. Idk smth smth *insert vine here*
Hey y'all. So I mainly use the Tumblr mobile app, and I just noticed that I wasn't seeing the most recent posts on my dashboard first. That was something that I did not touch or disable, it just changed randomly. I started to refresh the feed, and it imitated Facebook, wherein there was a different post every time I refreshed. I hate that. I want to see the most recent posts first. So I started messing around and figured out how to disable it (just in case it happens to anyone else)
Account person (bottom righthand corner) > gear (top right corner) > Account settings (first option) > dashboard preferences > disable "best stuff first"
Now you should be seeing the most recent posts first. Please pass this along in case this happens to anyone else!
