I would have started respecting Monel if he went through with his idea about changing Daxim's ways. He was very passionate about it and felt like he really meant it. Like how great would it have been if on the Daximite ship with Supergirl, he told her "it's okay, I want to stay. I want to help my people." I think season 1 Kara would have been okay with it in the end knowing that she herself will never get the chance to help Krypton and her people change their ways.

“ A broken heart is all that's left I'm still fixing all the cracks Lost a couple of pieces when I carried it, carried it, carried it home I'm afraid of all I am My mind feels like a foreign land Silence ringing inside my head Please, carry me, carry me, carry me home ” - Duncan Laurence, Arcade

This is why I don’t like the Kara/Mon-El karamel pairing.
Not only was its creation a cliche (which I blame on Calista Flockhart not willing to move to film so they rushed to change the story and moved James where he is in response) but it completely brings out the WORST side of Kara.
I mean yeah, we’ve seen her get all holier than thou before….but when it comes to Daxim and it’s denizens… Well, let’s be honest, we get to see just how prejudice, judgemental, and bigoted she can be. Worst part? It’s not treated as faults that need to be addressed or even acknowledged by the writers or the characters. It’s just not addressed and then we see Mon-El basically say she’s right because she’s a Kryptonian and apologize.
Not that this guy is innocent or anything. I’m just saying if you’re gonna bring up these flaws in your main character you need to address them as such. Not ignore them.
ETA: or have the bed guys bring it up and done in such a way it gets written off as "well if course that's what they say/think..."
"don't trust me!" Starr
Her words were too tender to be shouted over the cacophony of war. The tone she took was of no surprise to Daxim; she had a habit of acting angry and distant when her heart was hurt.
"Too late for that," Daxim laughed feebly, holding his side. Blue seeped between his digits, pouring over his armor and staining it. His vision was blurred as he stared at her gently. He gathered up the strength to speak again. "I trust you to do what you need to do. And . . . you need to leave me here."
