How long did you wait for your acceptance? I had my phone interview 4 weeks ago...I'm not getting in am I?

I had my phone interview on 9/13 and I don’t get accepted till 10/28, so about 6 weeks. Don’t give up hope! I know it can be discouraging to see other getting accepted before you, I know I cried a lot because of it, but don’t let it get you down. If it’s meant to be it will happen. Good luck!

@thebookconqueror I couldn't fit all I wanted to say into a reply so I'll just answer here if that's all right. Okay so basically the questions was how not to be nervous for your dcp phone interview and just general tips. The first two post on my blog right now are the posts I wrote up for the wbi and phone interview. It has a bunch of tips and common questions! So check that out. As for the nerves: jump on a fb group so you can be nervous with everyone else lol I've had 4 phone interviews now and I'm nervous everytime! Luckily Disney hires amazing recruiters that make you feel really comfortable. I honestly have so much fun with interviews now. Don't think of it like trying to impress someone. Think about it as a conversation that you get to have about the thing you love most, Disney! And lucky you, you get to have that conversation with someone who ALSO loves Disney. So I just got into DCP for fall 2017. Any advice on what should I do before and just advice in general about about working for Disney.

Before you get down there I would try and make some friends on the Facebook page or try and find some roommates. For me it really helped meeting my roommates on the page, I felt better knowing people going into it. Make a bucket list of things you want to do while you’re there, places you want to eat, and anything else you can think of.  

Working for Disney, I would just say be on time and try and make connections with you managers and area leaders. If you want to have a future career with Disney it can be super helpful network with your leaders. The only other thing I can say is enjoy your time while you’re down there, you will really miss it when you’re gone.

my interviewer barely asked me any questions about my roles...i think she maybe asked one per. is that a bad sign?

I don’t think that’s a bad sign! It may have only taken a few questions to see what role you would fit best in. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. As Walt once said “ why worry? if you’ve done the very best you can, worrying won’t make it any better”

Do you have a recommendation to a good DCP facebook group for fall 2017 applicants? I hear FB groups are a great way to get to know potential roommates if accepted, though I haven't even made it to the wbi yet and I applied 6 days ago, I figure maybe I should wait it out before I try anything new. Thanks in advanced!

I joined the Facebook group a few months before the applications opened and it was such a fun time! It is a really great place to make friends and get advice for the application process. Here is the link to the fall group,

a few tips for living and working in Disney

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS leave early for work! there is always going to be traffic so be sure to leave plenty of time to get to work.

Make friends with all of your coworkers! you will be spending so much time with the people that you work with so just try and make friends with everyone.

Take advantage of you time off! spend time going to the parks and exploring Orlando, believe me once you leave you will regret every time you decided to stay home instead of going out to do something.

Take so many pictures! take pictures of everything, every adventure and all the small things. I love being able to look back at all my pictures and remember this amazing experience.

These are just a few helpful links that you can utilize! Be careful for websites that claim that they can “build your cover letter” many of them are scams. To write the best resume or cover letter its best to do it yourself.

Again, you have the option to attach a cover letter and/or resume onto your app, but you can always manually add them into the application. You can use the same resume tips if you decide to do it that way.

Hello! I just recently discovered the Disney College Program and I reaaaally reaaaally want to do it. Do you have any advice for achieving my dreams? How do I have a good application and a successful interview and what should I do to prepare for it in the months before application?

one thing that helped me prepare for the application was joining the Facebook group for the program i was applying for, it really helped to have a support group of people going through the same situation. 

tips for the web based interview 

the questions are timed but make sure to read each question thoroughly, they dont try and trick you but sometimes the wording can be weird.  when i first applied for the program i didn’t pass it, when i was getting ready to apply for the second time i did some research to see what i can improve on for the second time. one thing Disney love is people who are passionate and firm in their beliefs, a section of the interview had questions that asked you to rate how strongly you agree or disagree with some statements. when answering if you think you agree with a statement go with strongly agree or strongly disagree if you disagree, it shows that you’re sure of your answer and Disney likes that in their cast members. lastly, be truthful in your answers. don’t try and answer the questions a certain way because you think that’s what Disney would want to see.   

phone interview 

do some research online and try and find some examples of questions they ask during the interview. there are so many examples of questions they ask during the interview, make a list of them and start thinking about how you would answer them. 

when you have a list of potential question try and get a few different people to do some mock interviews with you. i took a list of questions to my college adviser and had her do a mock interviews with me. it really helps to get someone else input, i had the problem of answering a question and then i just keep talking. it really helped me to get advise on what i could work on. 

dress up! if you dress like your going to an in person interview it really helps put you in the right mind set. 

smile! you can really hear a smile in someones voice and for a phone interview being able to convey a happy and friendly attitude  is really important. one thing i did was i sat in front of a mirror and smiled and almost had the interview with myself in the mirror. weird, but it worked.

if you have the list of questions with your answers on them some people have them in front of them during the interview. i did this but i dont remember looking at them once during my interview, you just kind of get swept up in the interview and the answers come naturally.
