#DCPRIDE is out today!
This is huge for me in so many ways. Fanboying and gushing over each story of a book you’re part of is the best of feels. A visit to DC after a while doing what I love the most and getting to draw some of my favorite characters in a story by Andrew Wheeler that keeps giving me chills and I want to go more in detail but don’t want to spoil too much yet. Huge thanks to Michael McCalister and Andrea Shea for having me in it! My smile doesn’t fit in my face right now.
So I read DC PRIDE and it was good that we finally have a book about LGBTQIA characters. What I was upset about though is that most of the female characters have nice big art of them kissing, which is nice. But as a gay man I am upset to see the only kisses between the male characters were two small background images. To me it felt as if DC were not brave enough to show the love/passion between two men in a large main piece. As you can see in the pictures the men are in the background and it really is disappointing that people still to this day seem to find it hard when two men kiss but it's ok to see two women kissing. Feeling let down.
