Just because some undersized science enthusiast dragged a selfmade railgun into a field, discovered he couldn't actually hit anything with it, and then immediately started explaining the physics behind his failure doesn't make it memorable.
The fact that I shot the pumpkin on the first try is also irrelevant.
As is the part where he launched into a ten-minute lecture about electromagnetic acceleration instead of celebrating.
Or the handshake.
Or introducing ourselves.
Or the part where we somehow kept talking after that.
None of those details are important.
I'm sure it's a complete coincidence that I remember the entire conversation decades later.
