I received an advanced reader copy of What Happened That Night from Smith Publicity via NetGalley, in return for my honest opinion. What Happened That Night by Deanna Cameron is a story about the seeing people for who they are as opposed to who they want us to believe they are. Clara’s sister, Emily, has been arrested for the murder of their neighbor, Griffin Tomlin. It’s been four months and Clara has still not adapted to her new reality…she’s become a social outcast and her parents are always fighting. Aniston writes for the school’s paper and wants to interview Clara. What will Clara and Aniston uncover when they try to figure out what happened between Emily and Griffin? This was a great read- a hard, complicated story covering difficult topics. If sexual assault is a deal breaker for you, you may want to pass on this book.
