It seems these past weeks you have been more the parent and I the child as you have seen me suffer with heartbreak and pain. You have seen me cry and feel hopeless and have been there to encourage me and comfort me. You have your own problems and burdens and yet you are willing to help me carry my own. I can’t thank you enough. I cannot tell you how much it means to me your sincere concern and you asking me every day if I am all right. It makes me want to cry when I think about what a special young man you are and how privileged I am to be one you love like your mother. Your heart is so exceptional that I feel so blessed that I forget about everything else that seems to be falling apart in my life. I just feel so grateful that it supersedes everything else. Yes, that is you,son, a light that chases away the dark. Just know I will always be here for you as you are for me. You are forever a part of my heart.

Claudia took a sip of tea, measuring son with careful glare of her intensive blue eyes.
“So you think that your grandfather and I had dreamed about our service, yes? It’s all right, you are a big boy now, so we will talk like adults. Please imagine yourself that I am dead and you are the next head of the house. You will receive a letter from queen. The calling to appear in front of her so she can decide if the title of Earl can be yours. What will you do?”

Claudia was too smart to arguing with her son so she nodded calmly showing respect to his opinion. He was the same like her when she was sixteen: overwhelmed with strict protocols and the cage of noble people fate. He wanted to have own will, own choices.
The woman didn’t want to steal him those. Vincent was a living being not a tool. When he will be older she will explain him the reason of existing the Phantomhive House and he choose if he will serves the queen, continuing the Watchdog role or… will be destroyed.
