Oh for goodness’ sake will you SamCait conspiracy theorists (CT) stop saying that Cait didn’t confirm her engagement--you just look like you are splitting hairs 🙄
Someone just showed me a SamCait CT critique of the recent Oprah Magazine article. It is full of the typical CT ideas, which I won’t bother to repeat but I just have to comment on one point that I have seen CTs say over and over again and it makes me wonder if they are being deliberately obtuse about anything to do with Cait’s engagement.
Before I go further I want to ask the CTs a question. If you announced your engagement in your local newspaper would you think ANYONE would question that you had confirmed your engagement by announcing it publicly in a newspaper?
You would think that they would have to be pretty strange not to know that you had given your approval for the announcement to be placed (or else a major retraction would have happened a day or so later).
This is because you have common sense when it comes to your own life. You understand social norms. And you expect the rest of the world to understand them as well.
So here is the latest CT hair splitting about the engagement:
[No, she did not confirm at the 2018 Golden Globes - she announced it in People Magazine a few days BEFORE the Golden Globes. And she just wore a ring in the red carpet but HARDLY SAID ANYTHING in interviews (I mean did anyone even ask in the red carpet, I can’t remember?) in the GGs that “confirmed” she was engaged”]
First of all, this CT didn’t even get her facts straight. She said that Cait
“announced [her engagement] in People Magazine a few days BEFORE the Golden Globes.”
Well below is the actual People Magazine online article. It was published at 10:53 PM on 01.07.18, the night of the Golden Globes (the red carpet started at 6:00 PM EST). Maybe the press release went to People earlier than that but they waited to either talk to Cait to get the quote in the article or to at least have photos of her--and her ring--at the GGs to include in the article.
(BTW, it is always helpful to do your research rather than to just recycle CT talking points if you are going to criticize an entertainment journalist for not doing their research. 🙄)
Does this CT realize that even if all of the above is just based on a press release sent to People, that Cait had to give her approval for the press release? In giving her approval, she confirmed her engagement.
But actually, People quoted Cait. So it would seem Cait gave them a brief interview. Either that or the press release contained the quote. But a quote means that Cait said those words. Otherwise journalists paraphrase what was said. And People is considered to be the most reliably accurate of the gossip publications, so if they put something in quotation marks, I assume it is an actual quote.
And lets not forget that Cait did get congratulations from others who were close to her on her engagement.
I’m tired of all of this. Please stop splitting hairs.
Cait is engaged to Tony. She confirmed her engagement through an exclusive to People Magazine.
If Cait had confirmed her engagement to Sam in the same way you would not be doubting it or splitting hairs about it.
If you want to believe your conspiracy theories (that have no legal or logical basis) go ahead. It’s been 5 years and no “reveal.” If that makes you happy to never have a “reveal” and to continue to have your heart broken over and over again, go ahead, keep shipping Sam and Cait. But don’t bolster your position by splitting hairs and suggesting Cait never confirmed her engagement to Tony. 🙄
