He only tolerates Patton because of their mutual friend, Virgil and being able to flirt with Roman.
Janus is his soulmate.
It’s the last point that hurts Patton right in his heart because he knows he has no chance with Janus, especially not with his obvious interest in Roman. There’s no competing with Roman, in looks or personality.
This is why he’s kept his realization about them being soulmates to himself despite the snake on his wrist itching every time Janus comes within touching distance.
One thing Patton’s always believed in is soulmates and he’s dreamed of meeting his soulmate but now, he knows they won’t be one of the soulmate success stories. It’s a bitter pill to swallow.
“Are you alright, Patton?”
Patton shakes his head then looks over at Logan who stares back at him; his lunch ignored for the moment.
Before he answers, Patton’s ears pick up several familiar voices before spotting Janus entering the cafeteria with Roman, Virgil and Remus.
“Uh yeah, I just remembered that I need to ask my professor something about our test next week so I’m going to head out early and try to catch him before class,” he says, gathering his lunch items and his bag, “I’ll see you later, Lo.”
Patton quickly dashes over to the trash cans on the other side of the room, unaware of eyes following his every move.
-----
Dropping heavy into his seat, Patton lets out a sigh as he runs his hand through his hair.
“What’s good, babe?”
He turns his head to the left then smiles slightly at the sight of his friends, Remy and Emile; who just happen to be soulmates.
“The usual,” he replies, shrugging.
Remy and Emile frown then share a look -- they’re the only ones who know about Patton’s side and are determined to give him support though Patton doesn’t want them choosing sides, it’s too late for that.
Dropping into the seat next to Patton, Emile pulls him into a hug causing Patton to squeak in surprise but quickly returns it.
They separate then settle in their seats as the professor enters the room.
As much as he didn’t want them choosing sides, Patton admits to himself that it’s wonderful to have their support and not be alone in dealing with this.
-----
After class ends, Patton parts with his friends before deciding to take the long way back to his dorm because it’s a nice day out and the fresh air could do him some good. Unfortunately, he forgot this path takes him right past the theatre department.
It hits him when he nearly falls over but Roman reaches out and steadies him by his arm.
“You alright there, Padre?” asks Roman.
Patton takes a few seconds to gather his bearings and process what happened.
“Uh, yeah. I’m good. Thanks Roman,” he gently peels Roman’s hand off of his arm, “I need to get going though. See you around.”
Before he can run away, Roman grabs his arm again then forces Patton to look at him.
“What’s gotten into you Patton? You’ve been awfully jumpy when you’re not running away from your friends,” Roman frowns, “We’re worried about you. Is someone bothering you or something?”
Regardless of his personal feelings regarding, Roman and Janus...Patton knows Roman is a really good friend to have.
“No, no one is bothering me and no, you guys didn’t do anything,” Patton responds.
“Then what is it? We miss hanging out with you.”
Patton runs a hand through his hair then sighs.
“Don’t worry, it’s me that’s the problem. Well, my problem to deal with,” says Patton softly.
“Patton…,” replies Roman equally as soft.
That’s as much as Roman gets to say before Patton tugs his arm out of Roman’s hold then dashing off.
"Who changed the thermostat settings? I’m freezing to death."
Patton looks at Remus, biting his lip as his boyfriend recklessly grins at their other partner who’s standing in the doorway, blanket wrapped around him as he glares at them.
Of course, Remus’ grin gives him away.
“Ugh, I should have known,” Dee sighs.
Getting up from where he’s cuddling Remus, Patton heads over to his other boyfriend while pretending to not notice how Remus’ grin changes into a frown with no boyfriend to cuddle.
“Aww, honeybee. It wasn’t Remus’ fault this time. The heating in the building went out by accident. Thomas is working on getting it fixed. In the meantime,” Patton makes grabby hands at Dee, “come cuddle and let us warm you up.”
Dee narrows his eyes as he considers the explanation before nodding his head and reaching out to take one of Patton’s hands and allowing him to lead him over to the couch where Remus waits -- a bright smile blossoming on his face now that both of his boyfriends are joining him.
Remus helps Dee unwrap the blanket from himself before passing it over to Patton then he tugs Dee down onto the couch next to him. It doesn’t take Patton long to cover them with the warm blanket then joining them underneath it.
Settling down between Remus and Patton, Dee lets out a contented sigh.
Despite how much he may ‘complain’ about his boyfriends, there’s nowhere else he belongs and Dee loves them with his whole heart. If anyone tries to hurt them...well, it won’t end well for that individual.
Patton snuggles close and nuzzles his face into Dee’s neck while Remus kisses the top of Dee’s head which is laying on his shoulder before laying his head down on top of his head.
It doesn’t take his boyfriends long to fall asleep.
As he feels sleep’s embrace coming for him as well, Dee smiles.

“Put me down!” squeals Patton.
Remus grins at Deceit before spinning quickly in a small circle causing Patton’s laughter to grow which draws fond smiles from his boyfriends. In fact, Deceit can’t help recording the scene though he’ll later deny being sentimental.
Stumbling slightly from dizziness, Remus switches Patton from a fireman’s hold to a princess hold and places a wet kiss onto Patton’s cheek when he removes his glasses for a second.
“Now, now…Remus, I do believe you haven’t been hogging our not-so dear Patton so it’s not my turn now,” comments Deceit with a teasing smirk on his face.
“Where do you want him?” replies Remus.
“Not on the couch where it would be uncomfortable,” answers Deceit.
Remus tosses Patton gently onto the couch as the rest of Deceit’s hands appear from under his cloak.
Looking up at his boyfriend, Patton’s eyes widen as he realizes what Deceit plans to do to him so he tries to scramble away from him but two of Deceit’s hands gently grab his upper arms to hold him in place.
“I’m not gonna get you, Patton…” says Deceit with a smirk on his face.
That’s all the warning Patton gets.
“HAHAHA!”
Patton rolls around the couch as best as he’s able while Deceit tickles him mercilessly.
“S-S-S-ST-ST-STOOOPPPP!”
Patton laughs harder when Deceit starts tickling his feet as well.
Sitting on the coffee table, Remus laughs at Patton but can’t help embracing the warm feeling growing in his chest. Then he notices Patton’s face is turning the same shade of blue as his polo.
“Alright Dee-Dee. I think that’s enough otherwise Pattycake’s gonna pass out on us.”
Deceit looks at his boyfriend then stops his barrage when he sees what Remus saw.
The moment Deceit stops, Patton falls back against the couch and pants heavily, trying to bring much needed oxygen into his lungs. Once he calms down, Patton makes grabby hands at his boyfriends who oblige by sitting on either side of him on the couch.
Patton places his head on Deceit’s shoulder and takes of his hands in his own as Remus moves to snuggle him from the right side of the couch, with his head on Patton’s shoulder and arm wrapped around his waist.
“This is most definitely not nice and I certainly couldn’t get used to doing it more often,” comments Deceit.
Patton kisses his cheek in response causing the human side of his face to flush.
Laughing at his boyfriends, Remus shifts closer to Patton and nuzzles his nose against his neck before letting out a soft sigh. For once, the energy usually buzzing through him, falls to a low hum. He feels his body relax then smiles when Patton kisses the top of his head.
“As much as I’d love to stay here, I gotta get back to the others soon. Otherwise, they’ll wonder where I’ve gotten off to,” says Patton with a sigh.
“Nope, you’re not goin’ anywhere. If my brother thinks otherwise, he’s got another thing coming. They had their chance and they wasted it,” comments Remus, clinging tightly to Patton, who laughs.
“I don’t wanna be anywhere else either.”
“Remus isn’t totally right, you know,” says Deceit firmly.
Patton blushes then tries to cover his face with his hands but doesn’t succeed as Deceit uses two of his hands to hold onto them before Remus attacks his face with kisses.
Clearly, the only way he’s leaving is if he’s summoned for a dilemma and Patton’s more than okay with that.
Ooh! Can I maybe request moceit, with the prompt "Just stay a little longer. Please."? And may Deceit is the one saying it? He doesn't have to be though, it can be the other way around!

Blinking slowly, Patton lets his awareness reassert itself as he returns from dreamland and takes stock of where he’s at and his surroundings. The familiar lumps beneath him, tells him he’s on the couch and therefore, in the living room; which isn’t an uncommon occurrence. Neither is having a weight on his chest as Virgil and Roman both tend to fall asleep on him all the time and without regrets; apparently, he makes a really comfortable pillow.
However, when his weighted blanket of sorts moves in his sleep, Patton sees something he’s not expecting --- snake scales on the side of the man’s face.
Deceit is the person laying on his chest.
He is cuddling Deceit.
Patton’s eyes widen as he processes that fact.
Now this situation is most unusual and he’s not sure how Deceit will react when he wakes up because he’s lying on top of his least favorite Side. Patton ignores the warm and tingling sensation in his chest because he knows Deceit hates him and he’s trying to keep his panicking down to the bare minimum
Somehow, he’s got to get out from underneath Deceit without waking him.
Patton frowns.
Deceit looks like he hasn’t been getting much decent sleep lately so it’s doubly important that he does this right. Too bad none of the others are around to help him with this dilemma.
He carefully removes one hand then the other from his shirt where Deceit was clinging onto him and Patton’s grateful he’s only having to deal with two of Deceit’s arms. Deceit shifts again in his sleep, giving Patton enough of a window to wiggle his way out from underneath him and place his feet on the ground, now sitting up with Deceit’s head in his lap as a pillow is used to replace Patton in Deceit’s grasp.
That’s as far as Patton gets when he feels a hand on his arm causing him to look down at Deceit who is staring up at him, a strange sadness in his eyes that calls out to Patton.
“Just stay a little longer. Please?” requests Deceit softly, “I...I haven’t been sleeping much lately.”
There’s something in his voice that lets PAtton know he’s being honest and that’s all that it takes for him to nod his head.
“Of course, Dee. I’ll stay as long as you want,” replies Patton equally as softly.
“Forever?” ask Deceit.
The human side of his face blushes when he realizes what he said but Patton leans down and kisses the top of his head.
“I like the sound of that.”
Deceit sits up so Patton can lay back down before cuddling up to the Moral side -- head on his chest with one of his arms draped across his waist.
Kissing the closest part of Deceit’s head he can reach, Patton sighs contently before they drift back off to sleep; unaware of the shrieks that will awaken them in a few hours time.
Moceit and "tell me who did this to you", please? 💙💛
“Patton?”
At the sound of his name, Patton freezes. He didn’t wantanyone to see him like this but apparently, it’s not to be.
“Do you need something, Dee? I’m in a bit of rush,” heresponds.
Patton meets Dee’s gaze and notices his friend frown at himas he scans Patton with his eyes; which Patton can’t blame him for because he’squite the sight—his shirt is covered in mud and there are tears in it while hishair is a mix of mud and leaves.
“Actually, yes. I do need something…I need you to tellme who did this to you,” states Dee firmly.
“What makes you think someone did this? You know how klutzyI am, I could have tripped and fell into a mud puddle,” answers Patton playingwith the hem of his polo.
Dee’s frown deepens.
It’s really hard to lie to his friends especially Dee.
Letting out a sigh, Dee grabs Patton’s hand, stopping hisfidgeting with his shirt before leading him into the bathroom.
“If you’re not gonna tell me then you’re gonna let me takecare of you,” states Dee.
Sitting down on the edge of the tub, Dee turns on the waterto give it time to warm up as he grabs what he needs to help clean up Patton.
Patton bites his lip because he’s usually the one takingcare of the others. Then he nods his head because Dee’s equally as stubborn ashe is so there’s no getting around this. Besides, this is better than Dee goingafter…well, Dee finding out the truth.
“First things, first—that polo is gonna go. There’s no savingit, so don’t even try,” comments Dee.
It’s true and it means he can go buy new polos so he’s goodwith tossing out this one.
Patton slowly lifts the bottom of his shirt up though whenit gets to the point it covers his face, he hears a gasp come from Dee. Then hepulls the shirt off all of the way. He blushes because he’s never beenshirtless around Dee before.
Holding out his hand towards Patton’s chest, Dee drops hishand and shakes his head to disguise his interest in Patton because hecertainly wasn’t expecting Patton to look like that, underneath hisshirt.
“You alright, Dee?” asks Patton.
Shaking his head one more time, Dee focuses on the task athand.
“Yeah, I’m good. Now…let’s get you cleaned up.”
Dee takes the washcloth and gets it wet before wiping downPatton’s chest, removing mud and some blood from his chest before rising it outthen applying soap and repeating the process.
When Patton’s chest is clean, Dee turns his attention tohis face. There’s not much mud or debris on his face, he still gently cupsPatton’s cheek as he cleans off his face. When Dee tries to reach the ear farthestaway from him, he becomes unbalanced and tries to catch himself with Patton’sshoulder but they slip off of the tub’s edge and into the water.
Patton and Dee look at each other.
Then Patton starts laughing causing Dee to giggle in responsebefore slapping his hand over his mouth as he blushes in embarrassment.
Grabbing Dee’s hand, Patton gently pulls it away from hismouth as he smiles gently at him.
“You’re too cute, Dee.”
Before he can reply, Dee feels Patton press his lipsagainst Dee’s in a brief kiss causing Dee’s blush to overwhelm his entire face.It earns him another kiss.
Dee takes a couple deep breaths to calm down.
“Well, I might as well wash your hair while we’re here.”
Relationship(s): Remus x Deceit, Remus x Patton x Deceit
Warnings: Sympathetic Remus, Sympathetic Deceit
“I LIKE THE BOTH OF YOU!”
Patton slaps his hand onto his mouth because that was definitely not what he planned to say to them; especially as his two friends are happily in a committed relationship with each other.
Remus and Dee look at each other in surprise.
A couple minutes pass with no one saying or doing anything.
“Uh, well I’m just gonna go and hopefully, we can all forget this happened,” says Patton before turning around and running off.
“Dee? Did that really happen and we said nothing in response?” asks a bewildered Remus.
“Fuck. This was the chance we were waiting for too,” replies Dee.
They share a look before running off in the same direction Patton ran, in hopes of finding him and telling him about their mutual feelings; preferably without their other friends around.
Remus could only imagine what his brother would have to say about this.
It didn’t take them long to find Patton as they’re more used to running for longer than Patton is.
“Patton! Wait!” yells Dee.
Remus takes more direct action by picking up his speed before grabbing Patton around the waist and pulling him towards him.
The sudden force from Remus’ grab brings Patton to a stop but the moment of his body and that of Remus’ when it collides into Patton’s back and sends them down to the ground – Patton faceplants with his glasses getting knocked off and landing somewhere from the action and Remus landing on top of Patton.
Dee sighs but can’t help the twitching of his lips at the sight of his loves. Then he jogs over and grabs Remus by the collar and yanks him up before helping Patton stand up and brush the dirt of off his face while Remus grabs his glasses.
Tilting his head to the side, Patton looks between Remus and Dee in confusion.
“Uh, what’s going on guys?” he asks.
“We, uh, have something we’ve been wanting to tell you but didn’t know how well it would go over until you made your little confession,” says Remus rubbing the back of his neck.
Dee sighs again.
“What Remus is trying to say is we don’t need to forget your confession happened because we like you too, the way you like us,” he explains.
Patton blinks before a smile slowly blooms on his face causing Remus and Dee’s breaths to catch in their throats.
“Really?” he asks in a soft voice.
Remus smiles as he moves closer before taking Patton’s hand in his own.
“Really, sunshine.”
Patton stands up on his toes then places a soft kiss to Remus’ lips before turning and making grabby hands at Dee, who chuckles but walks over to them. Patton lets go of Remus’ hand so he can give a kiss to Dee.
“So, what now?” Patton asks.
“We would very much like to have a relationship with you, Patton.” answers Dee.
Patton squeals before tackle-hugging both of his boyfriends. Thankfully, between Remus and Dee, they keep them from ending up on the ground.
“What the hell is going on here??” exclaims a familiar voice.
Once again, Dee sighs.
The trio turn their heads and spot Roman, Virgil and Logan approaching them.
Of course, it was Virgil who asked the question.
“Remus and Dee are my boyfriends now!” answers Patton brightly.
Roman drops his coffee in shock as Virgil uses his shoulder to steady himself while Logan simply blinks at the trio.
Grinning at his brother and friends’ reactions, Remus wraps an arm around Patton’s waist then takes hold of Dee’s hand with his other one.
He smirks knowingly at Roman before letting his gaze wander over to Virgil and Logan then back to Roman who glares back at him.
Deceit buries his head underneath the pillow, trying to block out the sound of Roman’s singing coming down the hallway from his room.
Staring at him, Patton rubs his back.
“This gets you? You live with Remus and it’s Roman’s singing that makes you want to resort to violence?” asks Patton.
Peeking out from under the pillow, Deceit gives his boyfriend an unimpressive stare.
“I know how to contain Remus and he knows better than to be too loud before a certain time and after a certain time,” explains Deceit.
Patton kisses the closest part of Deceit he can reach.
“In Roman’s defense, he doesn’t know you’re here nor do any of the others,” Deceit opens his mouth but Patton places a finger on his lips, “which is for a good reason. Besides, I really don’t want to share you with anyone else.”
The human side of Deceit’s face heats up and he forgoes the pillow to bury his face in Patton’s chest.
Patton plays with his hear.
“If you want, I can go tell Roman to quiet down,” offers Patton.
In response, Deceit wraps his legs around Patton’s then tightens his hold on Patton’s waist causing Patton to chuckle.
“Guess its back to the drawing board then.”
Deceit lets out a pleased noise against Patton’s skin, glad he’s getting his way.
Running his hand up and down Deceit’s back, Patton lets the silence of his room fall over them as the sounds of Roman’s singing gently softening to background noise, signaling to Patton that Roman’s almost ready to start his day.
“We could spend more time in your room, Dee…so you don’t have to deal with Roman as much,” suggests Patton.
“You’d have to deal with Remus then and you know how he is. Roman, at least can recognize boundaries,” replies Deceit.
“It’s something to think about for the future at least. In the meantime, I’ll talk to Roman later,” says Patton.
Deceit leans up and kisses Patton which is enthusiastically returned before snuggling close to Patton, determined to not leave the bed any time soon.
Waving his hand, Patton dims the light of his room before putting on some soft instrumental music to offset the noise he knows is coming once the others go downstairs to find that he didn’t make breakfast. As much as he should care about, they can all cook and he’s not in any rush to leave Deceit.
Patton notices slowly over time how his boyfriends spend all of their time with him either in the Commons or in his bedroom and it gets him thinking he’s only been in Virgil’s room once and never in Dee’s. He wonders how to bring it up because he knows better than to enter their rooms without their permission. Maybe they don’t want him in there.
The thought causes him to frown.
“I totally don’t want to know what’s caused that frown because I certainly don’t like when you smile,” comments Deceit out of nowhere.
Patton turns his head and gives him a smile as he watches Deceit move to join him on the couch before leaning up to give him a kiss.
“It’s nothing to worry about, Dee. I promise,” replies Patton.
Deceit frowns.
“What doesn’t Dee need to worry about?” asks Virgil from the other side of the room.
Patton opens his mouth to say something but Deceit places a finger on his lips, silencing him.
Walking over, Virgil sits on the other side of Patton.
“I didn’t come in and see Patton frowning. He told me the reason when I asked,” explains Deceit.
“Patton?” asks Virgil softly as he takes his hand.
Patton sighs.
“I got to thinking about how we spend all of our time either out here or in my room then how I’ve never spent any time in either of your rooms which brought me to the thought that you didn’t want me in there,” explains Patton.
He knows when his boyfriends team up they’ll always get what they want especially from him.
Virgil and Deceit share a look.
“We do want to spend time with you in our rooms but we didn’t think you want to, after the first time you came into my room with Logan, Roman and Thomas,” responds Virgil.
Patton squeezes his hand before grabbing Deceit’s with his other one.
“Our rooms are totally like the Light Sides’ rooms and there’s nothing to worry about in them,” comments Deceit.
Patton smiles softly at him.
“I’ll be with one or both of you so it won’t be scary or anything. How could it be when I’m with my two protectors?”
Deceit feels the non-scaly side of his face heat up at Patton’s words while Virgil buries his face in Patton’s shoulder.
Giggling softly at his loves, Patton squeezes their hands.
“I love you both,” he says softly.
“I totally don’t love you at all,” replies Deceit.
“Love you too, Patton,” mumbles Virgil into his shoulders.
