Roman has been staying in his room longer than usual, not quite ducking out but only making the bare minimum of appearances required of him, spending every waking moment of free time outside said appearances locked up and working on projects, trying to get them as best they can be and, if the bags under his eyes barely conceald by makeup and yawns poorly disguised as laughs and odd, dramatic noises, he hasn't been getting much sleep in the process, or taking care of himself at all for that matter.
Over all, he just isn't acting like his usual self anymore.
So one episode, when they try to summon him only to get a distant shout of "I'll only be a minute! Start without me!" Logan decides he's had enough of this.
Roman's current state has been poorly affecting Thomas's mood, self image, motivation, and of course, his creativity has taken a direct hit as well as a turn for the worst.
After all, with Roman under preforming in the imagination, Remus takes up a much bigger role in Thomas's mind, making him imagine less than pleasant things, without many good ideas to distract from it.
So they all go to Roman's room---
And then all hell breaks loose.
As soon as they enter, they see the whole room in chaotic dissary, papers all over the floor, discarded ideas, drafts and drawings, a board to keep tracks of all the works in progress, and dozens of coffee cups and energy drinks all over the room.
And in the middle of it all, Roman working furiously at his messy desk, throwing what seems to be upon a quick count the tenth paper of whatever idea he's currently working on.
"Roman? You doing okay, kiddo?"
"huh?! What? When did you all get here? Of course im doing okay, I told you I'd be up in a minute, don't worry!" the prince whiped his head up so quickly he had to rub his neck till the pain went away, though he tried to make it as unnoticeable as he could.
"falsehood, you've been in your room nearly 24 hours every day for the past two weeks, you are not okay." Logan insisted.
"I'm sorry, Logan, but last time I checked, you yourself said that feelings aren't your expertise, so how would you know how okay I am? I feel just fine, thank you very much!"
Logan seemed like he'd been slapped across the face by that comment, and both sides went to apologize at once when a third spoke up.
"calm down, princey, Logan's just trying to help! We came here because despite the fact that something is clearly wrong with you lately, you won't talk to us about it." Virgil felt immediately threatened as soon as they entered the room, and that feeling was growing by the second. Now he's the first to admit he doesn't normally feel safe or secure, but this awful, sinking feeling was something other than his own usual fear and self depreciation, and it made him get defensive, which in his case meant being extra mean.
Roman and Virgil quickly find themselves slipping into old, familiar patterns with the energies of the room edging them on, and they get into a very heated fight, meanwhile Patton looks like he's about to cry and Logan looks so fed up he might scream.
Eventually, he does scream. But the words that come out of his mouth are not quite what he expects.
"everybody quiet! We are getting nothing done and it's all my stupid fault! I thought that by confronting Ronan in his own room we could find the root of the problem in an environment that's comfortable for him to open up in, but big surprise! I was wrong, again! I've only made things worse, and I'm supposed to be the smart one! If I'm not the smart one, who am I?"
Everyone stares at him for a moment, all stunned into silence to say anything. This seems to include Logan himself as his thoughts finally catch up with his words, and then he just turns to Roman.
"we need to get the fuck out of this room, right now."
So basically, my idea of Roman's room amounts to this - if Virgil's room heightens anxiety, and Patton's room heighten the emotional state that he is in because he is at the core of Thomas's emotions, then perhaps Roman's room reflects the state of his own self esteem, heightens that feeling, and then projects it onto whoever is in his room, which manifests in the other sides acting defensive, insecure, and spilling out their biggest shames, failings, and all the things they hate about themselves.
