So here’s one thing I haven’t heard anyone mention yet when talking about Ultraman Blazar: it’s kind of pulling a reverse on what’s pre-established in the show and established in the first episode.

Let me explain; in most Ultra shows, the Defense Teams are usually pre-established in the setting already, and first episode or so is usually about showing how the protagonist either bonds with an Ultraman or gains the power to turn into an Ultraman.

But in Blazar, we still don’t know how Gento and Blazar bonded yet, and the 2nd episode was all about the formation and recruitment of the Defense Team, SKaRD.

The only thing I can think of that matches this is the recruitment of the new Crew GUYS back in Ultraman Mebius. And even then, GUYS was already established by the time that show began.

This alongside everything else really shows that they weren’t kidding when they said this would be an experimental show. Kudos to the whole production crew, ‘cause I dig it.
