hi, i'm a first year digital media student, i enrolled in the winter of 2019. i am planning to make a program switch to kinesiology and health sciences. how difficult would this be, and how long would it take? also, they don't accept winter admissions, so what courses should i take in the winter that could count as credit for my kine degree?

Hi anon,

I don’t think it’s that difficult as long as you meet the Honours GPA requirement. If you apply on Jan 1 (since you’re doing a degree and major change) your program change request should go through by June 1.

Take a look at the academic calendar here: https://calendars.students.yorku.ca/2019-2020/programs/kinesiology-and-health-science which can provide you with some course options. Some that I can recommend for the Winter term that don’t require prereqs are: KINE 2011, KINE 2031, KINE 2049.

New School!

Hey lizards! I just wanted to let everyone know that I have started a new school. I was originally at one of the Art Institutes, but many of them were closed down, including mine. So I have moved on to a normal college that is more liberal arts focused. I am now going for an art management degree instead of a graphic design degree. Anyways wish me luck, and how is everyone’s new year resolutions going?

hi! this year I worked to improve my GPA in order to change to an honors major, after I was placed under only a bachelors major, but I don't know if I'm able to request now that I'm still not finished two of my courses for the winter term. when will I be able to request and how do I go about seeing that I've reached the required grades? I'm just really confused right now, still not knowing what's happening with the strike :(

You should submit your degree change request now regardless of the strike because the deadline is June 30 for the next Fall/Winter session. Your request will be completed once your final grades are in even if it takes some time, so don’t worry about that. The main aim here should be to meet the deadline for the degree change request, otherwise you’ll have to wait until Jan 1, 2019 to change your degree.

Approximately how long does it take for a "Change Program Request" to go through? I applied in early November and haven't hear anything back! Should I try contacting the Registrar's office, or is this wait period normal, and I just be patient. Btw, it's just a simple change BACK to an Honors Degree.

They actually list that in the “Timelines” section.

Degree changes can’t be made until Jan 1 though and are processed by June, did your request go through?

When I click on you "FAQ" button it just takes me to your facebook page.. so i'm sorry I'm pretty sure this is a pretty common question but. How do i change from a regular BA to a Hons BA in Psych, I know it's somewhere online but I can't find it. (I recently got my petition accepted so my GPA is back to where it needs to be yayyy!)

I want to change my major from honours 120 credits to bachelor 90 credits, however ive taken 81 credits already if i take 30 credits to finish my bachelors  will i get in trouble for osap because they essentially have been paying for me to get a 120 credits honours bachelor?

Anon, can you clarify why you would need to take 30 more credits? You would only need 9 more to get your 90 degree bachelors, correct? 

If you’re worried that the CHANGE will result in an overpayment - I don’t think so because your tuition would have been the same.
