Demiromantic Things #16
Not being quite sure whether you just really want to be good friends with someone/are platonically attracted, or if you are romantically attracted to them.
Things That Should’ve Made Me Realise I’m Demiromantic - Part One
(even though I only discovered the label this year lol)
Not getting why someone being called “friend/best friend/great friend” by their crush was so devastating.
Like...friendships and romantic relationships aren’t mutually exclusive, are they...? Really, isn’t it better to be friends first?? Isn’t the fact that their crush values their friendship a good sign?? No, baby demi, apparently some people don’t need to be good friends before considering dating!
(And some think being interested in friendship first precludes romantic interest? Or something? idk, can anyone explain this?)
*not to be confused with “I only see you as a friend”
Ok so I thought it might be kinda fun to start a post for people to add on their little "How demiromantic/greyromantic of me" anecdotes :D
We hear about the big Realisation stuff, but I'm talking smaller moments (recent or from the distant past) that nonetheless show your arospec-ness - whether or not you knew it at the time.
Here's mine to kick us off:
The first person who asked me out was a friend of mine and it took me two weeks (over the school holidays, to be fair) to give them an answer because I honestly couldn't work out if I liked them romantically or as a friend 😅😭
I just came across a demiromantic flag blanket on etsy and I'm... so very tempted 👀 Do I need it? No. Should I spend my money on it? Probably not. Do I want it? Y-yes...
Things That Should’ve Made Me Realise I’m Demiromantic - Part Two
Listening almost exclusively to 70s rock music because the lyrics are about cool shit like space and politics
Or, more generally, being so done with modern pop music because I swear literally every song is about love, sex or breakups 🙄
you can’t prove that i’m not immortal until you try and kill me.
