One of my biggest pet peeves is how every older adult in my life always jumps on the "make smart choices" / "always wear protection" / "save yourself until marriage" bandwagon the SECOND they catch word about me having a partner.
They have a point, I guess?? We're a straight presenting couple, I know why they want me to "be careful" or whatever, but I'm so extremely sex repulsed, I physically cannot COMPREHEND a world where I would EVER willingly put myself in a situation where I have sex. Having so many people yap to me about how if I ever "decide to go down that path" I need to make sure I'm on birth control and take all the proper precautions, makes me SICK.
“Asexual women are lesbians at heart”? WHAT? Run that back to me right now?? As if asexual isn’t a real identity in itself?? As if you can look at an entire group of people and say “actually, that’s not what you are”. I don’t give a FUCK if you think that’s a joke? What the hell? You don’t get to say that?? Ever?? This is amatonormativity.
Ngl I have such mixed feelings on the BloodMary ship. On one hand, fun doomed space yaoi. Or something. On the other hand the fact that people had to reach across to a different fandom/media just to ship two guys together, when both media's previously existed just fine having zero romance, is a little bit too allonormative for me. These characters that existed FINE without romance HAVE to have romance. Type thing.
Also something about people completely ignoring Carl. I feel like there's something to be said about almost nobody talking about Carl — a canon and important character in PHM — to the same extent as the crossover ship BloodMary. People would rather ship Grace and Simon then talk about, draw — hell if they must ship — ship Carl with anyone. It just. Idkkk it feels like it's just more fandom racism. Is it wrong of me to say that?
Y'all know a lack romance and sex don't make a queer story not queer, right? ... right?
so I'm gonna start killing
allocentrism bad
I am so tired of the underlying assumption that being single for an extended period of time means you’re either a loser or a player
