I’m getting so much bullshit about defending demisexuality it’s so funny. Demisexuals aren’t attention seekers. They’re not “precious snowflakes” and they’re not “just like everyone else”.

Like okay I get it. Most people probably don’t have sex with people if they don’t have some emotional connection. That’s totally valid. And some people just have sex to have sex. That’s also valid. But demisexuals are people who don’t have that “almost immediate” sexual attraction or arousal. It takes time to develop a deep emotional connection and gain those kinds of feelings for another person. Again people will say “yeah well so does everyone” and that’s true but for some people who identify as demisexual/demiromantic it can take like YEARS to develop a sexual attraction. YEARS.

Thats not “just everyone”. So like I get it. I do but for fucks sake don’t freaking shit on people who identify a certain way?

Like???? It just doesn’t make sense???

And if you’re a part of the LGBTQ+ community and you’re doing this congratulations you’re doing to others what you wish wouldn’t be done to you.

In response to the demisexual anon: the ace spectrum has to do with a lack of sexual attraction to individual people. It has absolutely nothing to do with one's sexual drive. Getting horny or masturbating or engaging in any sort of sexual activity absolutely does not invalidate one's aceness in any way!

hi isrm, i have a question for you. i identify as demisexual, but lately i have had my doubts bc reading other people's definitions of the term i've found that apparently demis absolutely lack sex drive until emotional attachment? and i, while i really can't get sexual with people i don't love, i do, well, get horny and masturbate from time to time. what... does it make me... i'm really comfy with calling myself demi but i don't want to be appropiative so... (also sorry for tmi language)

don't worry anon! demisexual and asexual each have their own spectrum within their respective communities! there are demi and ace folks who still feel erotic drive they prefer to take care of on their own and there are some who simply don't feel it at all, and plenty in between i'm sure! you can define yourself however you want, and with the info you've given us i'm sure you're not being appropriative. (:
