Phalanx 'Demon's Crest' Super Nintendo
Demon's Crest Capcom Super Nintendo 1994
Got the idea for a poster a month ago after finishing the game, but struggled with the composition. I guess the new brush unblocked me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Anyway, great game (available on the Switch SNES), give it a try !
Yes, Capcom's sprite work for the Super Nintendo really was this good. So while updating the thumbnails for our older videos, I took some fresh screenshots, this one was for one of our really early video that supported the Capcom Generations 2 review on SEGA Saturn.
As you can seen the sprite work seen for the first boss in Demon's Crest or Demon's Blazon: Makai-Mura Monshou Hen (デモンズブレイゾン 魔界村 紋章編) from 1994 is truly stunning to see. It also is a reminder to all indie developers of the standard of sprite work you should be aiming for. The first boss sprite of this giant zombie dragon is so large it doesn't even fit on screen properly and to get this image I had to combine three pictures, I'm just luck the starting movement is always the same, so could put this image together.
