Funan
directed by Denis Do, 2018
In our Funan review, we take a look at a devastating true story brought to life via animation, once again proving the flexibility of this medium.
I review Funan, Denis Do’s directorial debut. It is loosely based on Do’s mother survival of the Khmer Rouge’s regime.

Based on director Denis Do’s on family story, Funan follows a family living in Cambodia in 1975 during the Khmer Rouge regime. Funan tells of the struggle of a young mother trying to find her four-year-old son who was torn from their family by the Khmer Rouge.
