I had this idea for a sterek idea that can have two possible outcomes.

Maybe there was a vicious fight or Derek was kidnapped from a group of mudering bastards and when the pack finds the battle ground/house there are a lot of mutilated, unrecognizable bodies.

And now either 1) Stiles believes Derek is one of these bodies and Stiles is goddamn broken by the thought that Derek is dead, he's barely a shell of hismelf, but in reality Derek is alive and comes back to him.

Or 2) Stiles refuses adamantly to believe that Derek is under the bodies, because he's smart and strong and he would never just die, but Derek is one of the corpses.

@areiton indulged this idea and wanted the second option, where my question was just how they found out that Derek is amongst the dead, unrecognizable bodies. 

She had the brilliant idea that maybe Peter can smell him.

My wonderful brain took this idea and made it worse because what if Derek was burned.

And Stiles is demanding to know just why Peter would know that it's really Derek when he says that one body smells familiar. Peter just replies he has experience with the mixed smells of his family and burned flesh. He can tell.

We decided to let this rest, because it’s just too sad and horrible all around but instead of sleeping my brain kept thinking about this damn thing and I offer you the last idea I had:

“Because it's not only horrible for Stiles and Peter but. Derek burned to death. Do you think in his last moments he thought it was kinda fitting that he dies just like his family? That this is what he deserves. And that he hoped Peter wasn’t the one to find him?”

We decided option 1 was the way to go after @areiton suggested Peter could smell Derek, but it was at this last point she said she hates me so I guess I did something right here ;)

I really, really hate Derek. He's an asshole and has zero redeeming qualities. Compared to every other murderer in btd games. Stabbing him was the best part of his route, and I did not feel bad at all. I imagine how his corpse is left to mummify in the desert, in great detail. But he's still my fav. I love him.
