I have really sensitive skin. It’s so sensitive that it irritates itself.
For now, I’m working on two problems I have consistently: eczema and dermatitis. It itches like fire, but of course every doctor will tell you, “Don’t scratch it!” Which isn’t the most annoying advice at all.
I’ve found that this blend calms & soothes the itch, and combined with a gentle moisturizer, I can manage flare up rather than being overwhelmed by it.
In a roller bottle, throw together:
- 6 drops Lavender oil
- 4 drops Helichrysum oil
- 2 drops Melaleuca (Tea Tree) oil
- Fill the rest with Fractionated Coconut Oil (or whatever carrier oil you use)
Admittedly, this oils are heavily diluted. But if we’re dealing with sensitive or irritated skin, it makes sense to be gentle. Apply on affected areas whenever you feel like itching or scratching!
*Just a note - most skin blends recommend a lot of Melaleuca or Tea Tree oil (different names, same tree), but it can be drying and irritating to my skin, even when it’s diluted. So I went really light on the Melaleuca, but do whatever works best for you!
This is not meant to be used as a substitute for medical advice or treatment. If you have a skin condition or a flare up, see a dermatologist! Skin conditions are tricky, and treatments for some conditions aggravate others. Tell your doctor about any oils you’ve been using, and heed their advice if they tell you to stop!
