we have reduced the beauty of the human body and the natural artistic expression exuded from the human body to the pornographic. people often have difficulties differentiating what is art in forms of the human physical to what is obscene and sexually deviant. The pornographic industry has massively corrupted people’s ideas on art and the erotic. All these powerful and beautiful things has been reduced to the hyper-sexualization of our exterior due to porn. The erotic has been synonymous with it being sexual when in reality it is not (Audre Lorde). Art in forms of sculptures, paintings, drawings that depict the nude human body has also been synonymous with the sexual when again- it is not.
Our minds have been highly manipulated and brainwashed to the point where we have allowed the porn industry to hyper-sexualize human bodies so that anytime we see a nude sculpture of a woman we equate it with porn, horniness, and a muse for a mans satisfaction which perpetuates sexual violence and harassment towards us. Our bodies are not inherently sexual and if people see it that way then it is important to understand and read about the dangers of hyper sexualization of a woman’s body and the dangers that comes with it when having that mindset.
I strongly dislike the comments made by many people accusing me of being h*rny or into certain sexual acts for simply posting a nude woman in forms of photography, paintings, or sculptures. It is frankly aggravating to be accused of hyper-sexualizing people and that the purpose of a nude woman is for my sexual satisfaction. The body of a woman is divine, artistic, empowering, and sublime. I post what I post because of those reasons, not because of (also) the hyper-sexualization of wlw’s and the association between being predatory and being a wlw. My sexual identity should have no place in such “discourse.” It is vital to radicalize, decolonize, and desexualize your ways of thinking, interpretations, assumptions and views of the world.
