"It does sound interesting, but," she squints at the letter, "what's this about 'debauchery?'"

"Well, you know, they are a bit more lax on those types of things." He folded the letter back up as the initial excitement settled into something more prince-like. "I'll inform the king and queen. I presume you'll tell your family? I trust that gaggle of fighters will be raring for the opportunity to engage in some new prey."

There was a sigh of relief as her shoulders relaxed. He didn't kick her out. "That I can provide," she said with a still nervous smile. Walking over as Kyrie nuzzled against his neck. She took his free hand, giving it her best attempt at a reassuring squeeze. "The Corruption's reached you guys too, huh?"

With Kyrie in his arms and Lazuli's hand in his own, it was... well, Cecil didn't really feel better, but it still helped. It grounded him.

"...Yeah. I guess I was a little too optimistic to think that it wouldn't reach us, but... I don't know. Wishful thinking can be dangerous, I guess." A light laugh, before he sighs. "...It's Cari. He caught it when he went to Astra'alca, and didn't notice until he'd already infected his soulmates, too. He was quick enough to realize and lock all of them in his tower."

He looks to Lazuli, then. "You know how the gravity of a problem never hits you, until it happens closer to home? I never even entertained the thought of any of this happening to my kids... now that it's happening to Cari, I'm at a loss."

There was silence for a long time before he finally opened his mouth. "Stupid of me to consider it, yes? I would lie if I said I did not harbor some soft feelings for him. I have been ignoring it for quite some time. I have been aware... for a long time, that it is one-sided. I have been content to be, if anything, perhaps a friend and confidant."

He looked away with a sigh. "I don't regret what I did... I would've gladly died... he owned my life, and I would have given Edmund-sama so much more. But to be left behind with barely more than a glance, even I deserve better than that... don't you think?"

"Something I love about Allisae..."

It's a simple enough question (as it would appear, for the moment, he's ignoring the first half of that request), but the angel soon finds himself looking down into his glass, instead of responding.

The first thing that comes to his mind when he thinks about it is her face. Smile bright, and wide enough that it made moon-silver eyes crinkle at the corners. Hair fell to curtain them from view for a moment, when she leans forward a little with a laugh, and he feels his heart skip a beat.

It was his favorite view of her, by far. So vibrantly happy, and full of life. Comfortable and safe, and full to overflowing with that love she was so well known for.

"She's amazing, isn't she?" He's forgotten all about the question, by now, and smiling the that only a fool in love could. "If she wants me to sing something for her, I'd be happy to do it."

...Buuut, somehow, he remembers that part, now. And is getting up to find his wife so he can sing a song, especially for her.

Pulled from a deep slumber be the sound of his alarm clock, Sherman groaned and reached over, shutting the thing off before going back to sleep. Just...five more minutes...

When he finally awoke feeling refreshed, he yawned and stretched his toes, turning to look at Lazuli in bed beside him. He smiled...and then grinned deviously before suddenly pulling the covers off of her. “Morning, baby~.”
