Cellist Camille Thomas plays Orfeo ed Euridice: Dance of the Blessed Spirits for Deutsche Grammophon. Plenty of feeling in this performance, and a great introduction to the Rococco composer, Christoph Willibald Gluck.
I enjoyed some Beethoven today, played by Maurizio Pollini for Deutsche Grammophon: Piano Sonata No. 30 in E major, Opus 109 1. Vivace ma non troppo. I have barely scratched the surface when it comes to Beethoven’s rich piano output, which no doubt influenced the composers after him. There is such feeling and subtlety in these works, along with the tempestuous storms which we not unjustly associate with this genius.

Seong-Jin Cho plays Schubert’s beautiful Wanderer Fantasy in C Major (Opus 15, D 760), for Deutsche Grammophon. As mentioned in the description, this pianist (I had not known of him beforehand) injects a world of feeling into Schubert’s piano works. Well worth listening to. I discovered another great pianist, Vikingur Olafsson, from Deutsche Grammophon. They are promoting quality pianists!
