he won't want to hear this from me but. andrew caring about exy and being in sync with the other foxes on the court is something soooo beautiful to me. that game he and allison spent idgaf-ing their opponents into a rage? incredible. him stepping in to protect matt from gorilla? showstopping. he and aaron being an absolute synchronized menace of a backliner/goalkeeper duo? nobody does anything like them. the way kevin and neil don't even need to be looking at him to know what moves he's making and how he wants them to respond? magnificent. him involving himself by giving the backliners advice? brings actual tears to my eyes.

I did binge season one of Succession this week and unsurprisingly my favorite character is one with very little screen time who is absolutely not the focus of the show at all.

Everytime I remember that I can't enter buildings in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, I remember why I don't want to play the game. There are plenty of games that thrive in an open world. Pokemon isn't one of them. Pokemon is about the gym challenge, a largely linear thing where you go from gym 1 to gym 8, defeat the evil team along the way, sometimes stop a world ending cataclysm and inevitably make friend for life. It's a game about seeing towns and cities, taking in the sights and sounds. If you can't enter buildings, then the cities are flat. Where's the fun stuff to explore? I don't wanna be outside all day!

Pokemon is designed for linearity. Unless it's a game where you play as a pokemon professor or pokemon ranger wandering around in the field capturing pokemon and doing your own thing with no clear goal, then there has to be some linearity! And you need to be able to enter buildings, for god's sakes! Pokemon is all about this stuff!

If Scarlet and Violet can't understand what I view as the core of the world of pokemon, then they have lost the meaning of pokemon to me. Why should I engage with them? Why? I just...scarlet and violet feels like pokemon losing plot with itself. And I don't love it.
