i'm certain writing a novel is quite the process for most people, and i won't make assumptions of other peoples' difficulties, but since my autistic/adhd/developmental language disorder brain thinks primarily in pictures, im finding the process of writing fiction pretty difficult. if the picture or film running in my brain isn't clear enough, i won't find words.
this project of mine has been an interesting experience in realizing how my brain works. i personally would rather write on pencil/paper, but since the images in my head move so fast, if there's any delay, then i'll lose the image and then lose the words.
this is why i support the "shitty first drafts" model by anne lamott, bc if my fingers don't continue typing, or if i try to go back and edit something, then i'll lose the continuity of the scene. so i just keep typing with zero regard for spelling and grammar.
i also think in patterns, emotion, and musical rhythms (which is a fascinating one i realized recently). the only time i actually think in words is if i'm rehearsing a conversation in my brain, like what i'm going to say during a future phone call or whatever.
my brain is naturally wired for visual and musical art, so i have no idea why i'm choosing to use words as a form of self expression, because it's tiring.
