Deviantart Alternatives masterlist
Making this mainly as a way to keep track of what alternative options there are out there. These are by no means meant as comprehensive/thorough reviews.
Instagram (enjoyable except for the fact that theres p much zero options for organization. Oh and the staff running it suck and hate us apparently.)
Twitter (Not for me but I know a lot of people use it.)
Threads (Instagram's answer to twitter. P much only good for status updates and WIP's IMO.)
Tumblr (Classic option, very customizable and versatile. You can p much do whatever you want with it. I just personally prefer a folder format over a tag format for organization.)
Facebook (I mean blegh for me personally bc if you make an art page it apparently shows people that ur real name/personal account is linked to it but you do you.)
Buzzly.Art (Beta. Designed by users who left DA after eclipse rolled out. Very closely resembles classic DA in terms of layout and function. Plus the mascot is super cute. Though it does require your art to be 2 MB and under in order to post it, which means no PNG’s, which does knock it back a bit for me. Still, definitely a fav contender.)
Sheezy.Art (Beta. Awesome customization options and feels like what you’d get if DA and Tumblr had a baby. Another fave contender.)
Toyhouse (I use this more for storing character bios and lore than I do for art but I know some people use it that way. It just sucks you cant upload high quality PNG’s there.)
FurAffinity (site is very da-esque in its layout and works well. But with recent events given that the owner has passed away idk what the future of it looks like. Not saying you shouldnt go there if you want to but I’d approach with caution and make sure to have backups and keep up with the artists you like on other platforms.)
Inkblot (Beta. Nice layout but crazy glitchy and unstable to the point where I havent been able to access my account in ages so I stopped using it.)
Cara (Mobile. Instagram alternative. Def very popular and functions well. Havent used it enough to have a full opinion of it yet. I can say that it doesnt seem very well optimized for the iPad so that sucks.)
Artfol (Mobile. Instagram Alternative. Very cute and regularly updated with a nice community.)
Artstation (Made more for professionals and artists looking for work.)
Artspacious (Beta. Havent used it. Don’t know what stage of development it’s in. But it is there.)
