After a long hiatus, I have found myself drawn back into Greek polytheist in tandem with my pantheism. While I have not been posting until now, I have been keeping up with festivals and thought I would share what a week in my praxis looks like for me at present! (I may update as time passes.)
Obviously, my routine is rather extreme, and I recognize and am grateful that I currently am able to be so extensive with my praxis. By no means is one required to perform extensive ritual or prayer to be a Greek polytheist and build kharis; however, I do not often see community members show their ritual schedule so I thought it might be helpful to see what a routine could look like and aid those who want to create more consistency in their praxis. I must emphasize I am not stating anything here is a requirement, merely sharing what I personally do.
A final note: A routine is not necessary to have a relationship with the Theoi; it's a personal decision whether to do so or not, and do not be discouraged if you cannot do all you set out to. Start small and take it easy.
Theoi Oikoi: Hestia, Agathos Daimon, Zeus Xenios and Ktesios
Tethys, Poseidon, and Okeanos
Theoi Iatrikoi: Apollon, Asklepios Paian, Hygeia, and occasionally Epione, Aigle, and Iaso
The Mousai (namely Calliope - a second hail is given to Apollon)
Gaia, Demeter, and Persephone
Collective hail to the Theoi
Veil and/or hairbinding - worn overnight
Farewell to Helios, Eos, Hemera, Theia, and the Hesperides
Prayer to Nyx, Selene, the Oneroi, and Asteria
Meditation and Tea Offering
Prayers I Do Almost Daily
Prayer to Hermes whilst driving
Hail to Helios in thanks at the sight of Him
Prayer to the Hesperides at twilight
Prayer to the Mousai for writing inspiration
Handwashing Katharmos to Hygeia and Okeanos
Katharmos during showers to Hygeia, Tethys, Epione, and Asklepios
Theoxenia - meal for the Theoi; which deities I hail is dependent on the circumstance (however, all my meals are dedicated to Gaia, Demeter, and occasionally, Dionysos)
Hymn to Helios and Honey, Bread, and Green Tea Offering
Katharmos - Cleansing my apartment finished off with my khernips spray (or, as I enjoy calling it, my kakodaimon-be-gone spritz; basically just khernips in a bottle for convenience)
If you have questions or would like me to discuss any particular topics next, message my askbox and I would be glad to answer!
A side note: I may make a new account to post my newer material as much of what I have posted in the past here does not align with my current beliefs and praxis. I will not take this account down but might adjoin another one in my bio. The focus will be on Greek polytheism; however, I am versed in varied theological, philosophical, and religious topics which may occasionally come up. Updates to come.
Érrosthe and Eirene!
