i kinda ran out of room for these, but early laima, dievas and aldebaran. i think the first drawing of lauma was the page she first showed up on, same with velns.. but these two took longer to show up in the comic. laima obviously has changed the most since her original drawing, but i still really something about the hairstyle.  and of course aldebaran uh ended up very different, he looks so awkward here. LOL i didn’t really have a strong grasp on his personality yet at that point.

WHAT THE FUCK, LAIMA?

I’m going to get more into this into the comic obviously but here’s some fun facts over what is going on with the reveal of locket (and his mysterious sister’s) mommy!

So first things first, Knife has no idea Laima is alive. As far as he knows she is long dead. And while he knows Locket exists (now) he still has no idea where this kid came from. (he certainly doesnt think locket is ALSO laima’s kid) So its freaked him out quite a bit *understandably.* he has no idea the Ghost Kingdom exists. Or that he has a daughter there too. Knife has no clue what the fuck happened at all.

One major rule about the ghost kingdom is that if you leave, you can never return, unless you are Laima or have special permission from Laima. but for the most part, it is forbidden. Also when you leave, you are often escorted in a way so you do not know how you left or how to get back. So it is a pretty serious deal. It has been kept a secret for 500 years successfully for a reason. Like god damn.

How did Laima live? Well, after Lauma was mysteriously died, everyone was pretty shocked and confused, but then after Velns exploded, Dievas put 2 and 2 together and basically was like Babe we’re next if we don’t do something. So he planned for Laima to fake her death when confronting Perkons, then take the kids (including the hybrid rainbow Lauma/Dievas eggs!!!) and escape to safety. This plan worked out pretty well, even though Laima really wanted to try to finish off Knife herself, she held back because she didn’t want to risk dying and ruining Dievas plans. Part of her feels regret for holding back there, as she wonders if she had continued to fight maybe Perkons would have died there and Dievas would still be alive with her..

Dievas was somewhat uncertain if he would make it or not fighting knife, he was somewhat hopeful he could pull through but it proved to be futile. At least he was able to hold up the facade that he believed Laima was dead too. it helped that he was able to truly grieve the loss of Lauma and Velns.

Laima really didn’t want to go without him but she promised to take care of their children somewhere where no humans or worms or anyone would hurt or use them. (stares at her coldly as she then in turn decides to use Locket for a tool and weapon of revenge against Knife.)

Anyway, In Laima’s kingdom she had statues made of each of her killed siblings. She often goes to Dievas’ statue and talks to him as if he’s still alive. She misses him so much. every day. She would have exploded long ago but she cannot rest until she knows Knife is dead too. And her children love her a lot and she promised her husband that she would take care of them.

Her society is mostly made of D-types but there are some others, like B and A types. C types are not very common there. Also, it is very rare for hekatons to accidentally explode while living there as well, amazingly enough. It is very peaceful there, but strict. Everyone loves their queen.

Laima’s rage kind of went over the top when she discovered news that Knife was not only hypocritically fucking another Hekaton, it was an A-type. and then the two of them were STILL trying to kill all the hekatons. So she was pretty much like Ok Enough Is Enough. These Fuckers Have to Go. I have had enough being patient and silent.

Laima prefers the E-type daughter because she reminds her of Lauma a little. Locket is far too much like Perkons to her. He also just, seems generally much more observant and potentially more dangerous. So, a perfect weapon against Knife. Fight potato with potato.

Anyway thats enough for now but enjoy the new info!

You said somewhere that Locket faces some misgendering back home? Does Laima call Locket with female pronouns like Dievas did with Knife?

Oh golly. Such a huge topic. I wrote out like 6 pages for this but I am kinda tired so i kind of don’t know how …coherent it ended up, so I probably am going to have to wait and divulge more of the intricacy of this situation another time. A little bit like that, yeah. And she does. but i think it has many more layers of added complexity than the dynamic between Knife/Dievas. Dievas was mostly coming from a place of like, complete lack of context and understanding. He just thought Perkons was confused about what he “really was" and “under the influence” of like, humans or something? However, present day Laima.. totally knows better. 

Locket and Key were both initially raised and reffered to as the as Twin E-type Princesses. For  to Locket “follow” In the footsteps of Knife (so to speak) was an uncomfortable red flag for Laima. She did not like to see patterns in her children, although she might have expected it on some level. Locket faced a lot of pressure, he wasnt sure how he even could come out, he sort of understood that his position is different than most hekatons in his society. Despite being the child of the Queen, he also was the descendent of the First, who was the horrible murderer that is loathed and hated by everyone in the ghost kingdom. Those who knew about the twins were often not comfortable with their existence at all, and others saw them as sort of this ~exotic~, mysterious and potentially interesting experiment. What WERE e-types anyway? what could they DO? what would BREEDING with them be LIKE? they were both seen as these.. dangerous and special individuals at the same time. it made the twins very isolated, and mom wasn’t exactly the most comforting towards them. it was often kind of like, a very ingenuine compassion.. you could just feel it from inside her that she was just acting out the motions rather than truly feeling love and compassion for them. Key pretended she didnt notice, or convinced herself of it, Locket could not get it out of his mind. It was impossible. Locket mostly confided his feelings to his sister, who did her best to support him! She didn’t doubt his words but often asked kind of rude questions, which I suppose were not unwelcome as Locket really needed someone to help talk about it. When Laima does use correct pronouns and stuff it is laced with heavy apathy. she doesn’t actually .. care to respect him, specifically him. Its just some sorta.. dunno, obligation? i wouldnt call it polite. If anyone else misgenders him she often wont correct them either. Often it was his sister who would get mad and loud for his sake. Whenever she’d get mad at mom about it mom would just be like Sorry Sweetie and smile. Locket generally.. didnt like when Key would confront mom on that issue….he didnt want more tension between them than there already was. This doesn’t even really begin to explain everything!!!!! else!!!!!! that went on there, but Locket felt pretty “invisible” within his own society.. of.. hekatons that… could turn invisible. Not only for being an E-type, but also for being a transman. And not only that, a transman that could actually NOT really ever ‘transition’ because e-types fucking regenerate. And as their society sees eyes=gender, it, was tough. He had a tough time. AND he’d get crazy hybrid d/e type periods that SUCKED. A LOT. Despite all that, if he was given the choice he still would go home immediately. It genuinely worries him that there are others that felt the same in his own kingdom that he had no way of really knowing how to reach out. That kind of stuff bothers him a lot. (i mean, they could have been there, he feels they obviously WERE there.. he just, was so isolated from regular society even IN his own kingdom. it would have been nice to just know they were there. he wonders what sort of things hekatons like him must feel like. ect.) He’s still looking forward to meeting a hekaton like that. I suppose thats partly what made him so curious about his dad. (and also guilty because.. he is supposed to hate knife. and he does! ..and yet..)
