this year, I must say, it wasn't as awful as the last. It was much calming and felt a bit slower. There were its ups and downs, but I think the ups are what matters most. I was able to practice my art and animations more, and I met more wonderful people.... Last year was a sad one for many; for me, it was a time when I felt completely disconnected from everything. I just wanted to "leave." I felt insecure, cried a lot, and ended up wondering what the point of many things was: what was the point of drawing if I wasn't doing anything with it, what was the point of being myself if I was someone some people would tolerate as odd? But this year proved me wrong and gave me the peace I needed in my soul... I'm worried that next year won't be as calm as this one, but if it is, well... I'll just have to deal with it, and see the best of it!

Maybe it wasn't the best for many, or maybe it was disappointing for others, but I just want to tell you that everything will be alright, everything will get better, and everything will go to the best places. Now we just have to celebrate the end of this year, which for you may have been horrible or bad. I love you very much, and many people love you very much too. Remember that: there is still love and happiness in it, and you will be able to get out of this hole and out of this year

Your art is amazing, and your style of drawing Sans is definitely my favourite~! I wish I could actually hug you instead of settling for digital hugs... I hope things get better for you. :)

So, in my language-learning journey I've begun to experience something that is so infinitely infuriating that I needed to share. For reference, I would consider myself an intermediate French speaker, because I know how to communicate alright, but I'm by no means fluent. In saying that, there's nothing more frustrating than speaking a language, then hitting a roadblock as you realize that you don't know the correct words to finish what you were saying. And it made me think that as someone who lives in a world speaking the language I do natively, able to speak, I take being able to communicate with others for granted.

Therefore, I wanted to send a message out to all the people who go unnoticed when experiencing this problem, those who have mutism, or deafness, or who simply are moving to a new place where they don't speak the same language; I am finally beginning to understand how frustrating that existence can be.

By no means am I familiar with it--I'm usually well-spoken and my vocabulary is sometimes too large--but I've begun to experience this struggle for absolute certain.

So, to all the people dealing with the fury or irritation of language barriers (be it some form of SL or a spoken language) or of the inability to speak or hear, I want to give you a digital hug. Because that really sucks, and I don't think enough people think about it.

Fanfic Appreciation Day

I have so many people I want to give shout outs to. It’s been an incredible ride. I started writing fanfic at 18 because I wanted more from a video game. Knights of the Old Republic. I wanted more Carth Onasi and Female MC. So I did. It still sits on a shelve in my closet in a black, unmarked three ring binder. 

I took a long break. Nothing captured my attention and I lost the will to put pen to paper. Then Dragon Age Origins hit. I felt it was complete for me. Dragon Age 2. Again I felt connected but not that I was missing something. Inquisition hit and something inside sparked. I played it. And played it. Until I nearly broke the first disc. Then my husband got me the Game of the Year edition and I immersed myself. First Kiera was born, then Diana and then Hyacinth and from them my original writings. 

I started reading the popular stuff. But I wanted more and I started following Cullen positive blogs. I stumbled (ran head first) into @ma-sulevin and her incredible The Fire and The Flood. I was lost! Everything I’d ever thought about ‘fanfic’ changed. It wasn’t just about romance, and getting the ‘perfect’ love scene. It was characters, their back stories, pain and redemption, arcs and endings. I NEEDED more!

I searched and consumed more and more, just needing it. All the while developing my own and putting them out there for others. 

I read: @a-shakespearean-in-paris and her work, and I couldn’t get enough of how she delved into the character’s heads and hearts. 

I devoured @laraslandlockedblues and her work. Seeing how she could weave smut into a story and not have it the main focus. There was plot, strong and compelling me to keep reading.

I adored and admired @khirsahle and All I Ask of You  it was my first MAJOR fandom Queen I read and genuinely couldn’t believe I hadn’t seen it sooner. 

There were shorts and snippets from @stregatadallostregatto @princessvicky01 @skyholdherblist @ladydracarysao3 @starsandskies @angyvalentine @windysuspirations @fereldenpeach 

There are more I’m sure of it, some I can’t seem to tag... but all of you enrich and protect that inner child that wants to feel loved and needed. I write to fill my own voids and I hope that when you get kudos, likes, reblogs it makes your heart soar. Fanfic is precious and should be treasured. You are all incredible and whether we interact often or not at all, know you have shaped me. You have made me a better writer, a better reader and a better person. So from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! Never stop and know that there is always a quiet person, loving you, your work and excited for more. Maker bless you!

oh my god sweetie ;____; i am so sorry i am SO sorry that people are crying over this, that so many of us are feeling this way this is so unacceptable. please try and be strong okay??? there's a lot of fight left in this fandom and we aren't giving up on our humans~~~

Today is R U OK? Day - a day dedicated to encouraging all people to regularly and meaningfully ask 'are you ok?' to support those struggling with life. While I fully support this initiative and think it is a great way to make it easier to ask the question, it makes me sad that we need a day like this at all.

When did it become not ok to be not ok? 

We seem, as a society, so cynical when it comes to mental health - there is a very 'she'll be right mate' attitude towards  it, an almost cavalier approach to the whole topic. Well, turns out she won't always be alright, there are some things you can't just shake off, get over or forget about. The whole point of the day is to make it not just ok to ask if someone is struggling, but to also make it ok for them to say no, I'm not ok. That is so important - that opening, that one little question could be enough to tip the scales for someone. A problem shared is not always a problem halved, or solved or even offloaded, however if this process has taught me nothing else - talking about it helps. Writing about it helps - getting it out of your brain and into the ether helps. Keeping it inside, swirling about around and around the same thoughts doesn't help, it escalates things, they gather momentum and the more you dwell, the longer things are left to fester the harder it is to put them down. 

If you are feeling angry, irrational, exhausted, sad or just meh about everything - talk to someone about it. Try to ask yourself why and when you feel those things - do you see any patterns? Ask those close to you what they see, what they have noticed about you.

If you can't fall asleep at night even though you are exhausted, if you can't think of anything worse than getting out of bed and facing the day every day, if you find yourself withdrawing from friends and activities you would normally derive great joy from - tell someone how you feel!!

If you feel you don't have anyone to talk to - you do! You may not realise that so many people care about you, you may feel isolated, you may think that you are burdening them with your problems or that they wont understand - tell them anyway, they will surprise you. And if all else fails, if you still don't think you have anyone then please know that no matter what - You have me. I may not have the answer you seek, but I have the ears you need and regardless of how bad it is now, I believe that you will be ok - we both will, we will be ok together.
