How does Angela Marsons still keep getting better? Her new book, Six Graves, is a tremendous crime fiction story. This is the 16th book in the DI Kim Stone series. " A killer named Soames that DI Stone put away has escaped. And the only thing he wants to do is hurt her. Her boss puts her under protection, which she loathes, but goes along with to keep her job. She and her team are called to the site of an apparent murder-suicide. Something doesn't add up for Kim and as they investigate, family secrets come to light. Another family member dies under suspicious cirmcumstances and the team works overtime to find answers. Can Kim stay protected from a killer and also find a murderer?" Marsons blanaces the two story lines here. DI Stone wants to do her job without restriction. The agent protecting her knows that the killer only needs a small window to get to Kim. Marsons goes inside the killer's head a bit and it's a scary place. There are team dynamics at play. It's good to see them grow and change so that every book is not the same. And Marsons is not afraid to kill a character. Read the prologue and see for yourself. There are moments with the protective agent - Leanne. I hope we get to see her in future books. A wild ending (and I love a wild ending) Marsons adds a couple of twists this time. This is a great story, even if you don't normally read crime fiction. Great series and characters from Angela Marsons. Stolen Ones by Angela Marsons is out today. "A young girl, Grace, is abducted. A man walks into the police station saying he has information but will only talk to Det Stone. The team soon links him to other missing girls but time is running out on how long they can hold him. Can Kim and her team find enough evidence to charge him and bring Grace home safe?" This plot is different from other books in the series. There is more of a psychological element than being a police procedural. The team spends time trying to figure out why Steven would even come in and why the girls were abducted and some killed. There's a side story with a former nemesis that feels like it's setting up a future book. There's a surprising twist at the end that you will not guess. And I was surprised with the resolution of the Alex Thorne subplot. Another great addition to the Kim Stone series. Deadly Cry is book 13 in the DI Kim Stone series from Angela Marsons. “A young girl is found alone in a store. Hours later her mother’s body is found in an abandoned warehouse. Days later a second victim is found killed the same way. Kim’s team is fractured and struggling to make headway in finding the killer. When a note from the killer is sent directly to Kim she realizes that she has little time before the killer strikes again...” Marsons has given us another great DI Kim Stone story. The team dynamics add tension to finding the killer, who is hidden in plain sight (you’ll never guess) l like how Marsons links the seemingly unrelated cases. There’s a bit of overexplaining of graphology here but it doesn’t detract from the story. If you’re a fan of DI Stone or looking for some excellent crime fiction you’ll enjoy this addition to the series. Thanks to @netgalley and @bookouture for the ARC. Killing Mind is book 12 in the DI Kim Stone series by Angela Marsons (releasing in May) “DI Stone is called to the scene of an apparent suicide. Further investigation reveals it to be a murder and when a young man is found killed the same way, Kim and her team search for connections between the two victims. They are led to a communal farm and a charismatic leader. They send in an undercover officer. But they’ve lost contact...” Marsons has given us another good story. We get to see part of Bryant’s backstory. Tinkerbelle returns. And the way that Penn develops a victim profile from a shoe and Amazon is remarkable. First time I had seen that in crime fiction. If you’re looking for cult-flavored crime fiction. Lots of info on cults (a bit much but you can skim that if you want) Some excellent crime fiction from Marsons and a great series. First Blood by Angela Marsons is a prequel of the DI Kim Stone series. Kim meets her team and they start working a series of murders right away. It’s a great look at how the different personalities became a team. I think this story works better after we’ve seen the team work for 11 books. There are parts of this that are tough to read (l always struggle to read about child abuse) And the British care system (sounds like foster care) is not shown in a good light. If you’re a crime fiction fan, you should definitely be reading Marsons.
