Lil Dimilix practice :3
I’ve been watching people punch each other
this post by @felixhugofraldariuchiha, @lonelydimitriinyourarea, @claudeschesthair, and @ferdiewiththegoodhair had me laughing so hard for like a whole WEEK !!! i couldn’t not draw them
these blogs are so funny and entertaining, please check them out! :)
What if we kissed at the greenhouse... I’m kidding. Unless... 👀
lets hope dimitri doesn’t accidentally snap felix’s neck
Actually I think felix's personal ending in CF, SS or VW has far more romantic potentials compared to their paired ending. I view felix's hatrd to dimitri as trying to defend himself from the chivalric culture of Faerghus and its tradition of one man's absolute devotion to his lord. He can't cope with the expectations which come from their family's history, their father's personal relations or the political role he has to function, due to his obsession with individual power and control.
So it seems a better ending for him to betray and kill dimitri (and his father) and to think for the rest of his life whether it is worthy to reassert his self-identity and to pursue "freedom" at the cost of being cut off from his origins completely. Then he might be regretful and realize that he hold some genuine feelings for dimitri despite he represents the culture he hates in a problematic way. He might has to admit to himself that those feeling could be romantic after years of self-denial.
Their paired ending doesn't really solve the issues and problems in any satisfactory way. It is more like an failed effort to contain all the unsettling and subversive elements in their relationship and force felix to reconcile with dimitri.
I’m by no means a Felix or Dimilex expert - @professor-tammi is a much better source for both - but the problem with this is that, well, Dimitri is very much dead by the end of two of those routes and probably dead in the third. CF is easily the worst for Felix even though it’s the one where he’s openly rebelling against Dimitri and his father and has the opportunity to kill them both, because it’s Dimitri at his sanest and because he married another guy who didn’t leave his side and who has the option of dying with him. There’s some great material for tragic unfulfilled Dimilex all over Felix’s content in the non-AM routes, and it’s true that their paired ending appears to slip right back into Faerghus’s traditional norms of homoromantic longing, but that’s the best he’s going to get in regards to a reciprocated romantic and sexual relationship unless you want to do some canon divergence. Personally, I think that’s appropriate for these two. From early childhood the Dimilex relationship belonged to a legendary tradition dating back to the founding of Faerghus, one of....let’s call it bromance with benefits. Even if/when they reconcile their bond seems destined to remain within that framework, just as it would have been for their fathers were they sleeping with each other on the side.
I do agree that their support line and other content doesn’t do the greatest job of adequately giving their many issues room to breathe. Perhaps this is another casualty of the need for self-insert romance in AM, that even with Dedue artificially pulled from the story and never properly re-inserted Felix’s contributions to Dimitri’s character growth rise only slightly above that of the rest of the Lions chorus. There are definitely meaningful lines, including some that change if you get their supports, but for me it’s not enough to fully make up for all the early hostility..
Tonight became a Dimitri night
(Who knew red pen with a grey overlay makes it super dark,, useful information-)
"Hey, Feli-"
"Fucking, shit!" Felix jumped, dropping his stack of books. "What the fuck are you doing here, Sylvain?"
"Studying for my Reason exam," Sylvain shrugged. "You alright, Felix? Here, let me help you-"
"Don't fucking touch my books-"
"No, really, I scared you, s-" Sylvain's hand paused over a single book.
The Mating Habits of Sus scrofa, by Dr. Eleanor von Essar.
Sylvain began to sweat. "F-Felix?"
Felix knocked Sylvain unconscious with a book and ran away.
