welcome to the mini sandwich
hi folks! welcome to the mini sandwich blog.
our mission: to experiment with dining hall ingredients to create delicious, tiny sandwiches, a versatile food that can be eaten at any time of day (breakfast! lunch! dessert! dinner! snack!).
the rules: the bread must be about the size of a slice of baguette. we'll be making most of our masterpieces with ingredients found in our college dining hall.
our idol/role model: beautiful bruschetta!
why?! mini sandwiches are cute + delish.
xox!

Food at SU
For someone who loves Syracuse, I have to admit that the food here is just not GREAT. For the money that we pay to go to Syracuse University, you might think that the on campus dining halls would be much better. Cooking for mass amounts of people is tough, but to be honest the dining halls are sub par. Each major freshman dorm area has their own dining hall, and there is one large dining hall…

Prompt #9 Response: Proposals at Penn State
So far my time at Penn State has been amazing! It’s weird to think that my freshman year is already coming to an end, but looking back on it I’m really appreciative of how well my first year at college went. Penn State has everything to offer to students from the highly acclaimed academics and division one sports teams to hundreds of clubs and THON to nightlife and of course Chipotle. Although the list goes on and on about how our school is awesome, there are some minor adjustments that could be made in order to overall better our experience at Penn State.
Every year freshmen complain about the quality of food and lack of variety in the dining halls at Findlay Commons. You can either go with that night’s special, the Mexican line, or pasta. What I would like to see in the dining hall is a chopped salad station similar to Mixed Greens at the hub or even the one found in the Business Building. Students would be able to select the type of lettuce and toppings they want and then have it prepared [chopped] for them. This would better the quality of salads in the dining hall and incline students to choose a healthier meal for lunch/dinner.
Personally, I need to have a cup of coffee every morning and the quality of coffee from the Big O just does not cut it. Don’t get me wrong every time I walk by the Big O I begin to crave their buffalo chicken pizza and french fries, but when it comes to their coffee I am always disappointed. My solution to this problem would be to add a Starbucks kiosk to the commons. It would be a hundred times more convenient than walking ten/fifteen minutes to the HUB for the next closest [good] cup of coffee. Also it provides another on-the-go breakfast option that Findlay currently lacks.
Another minor problem that proves to be a huge inconvenience is the lack of Wi-Fi in most of the dorms on campus. Instead of being able to freely move around with my laptop I am restricted by my Ethernet cord. Even the study lounges on each floor are free of any Wi-Fi connection. If you wanted to have a wireless router set up you would have to go out and buy one, and then still abide by the University’s restrictions on wireless internet. Rather than having Ethernet, Penn State should provide every student living on campus with a wireless router, included in tuition.
