Gentle reminder for this month that the gods love their disabled worshippers. To our gods, we are always enough!
Welcome to the Official Opening of Oh My Gods Metaphysical!
Hello folks, and welcome to Oh My Gods Metaphysical--your one-stop-shop for all things metaphysical! We're so excited to have you here, and we can't wait to build a community with you.
What is Oh My Gods? Oh My Gods is an all in one community and shop Discord, with a website and many other connected socials that you can check out at our linktr.ee! We specialize in various readings, spell services, and spirit companionship services, including unique ones you won't find elsewhere, like Necromancy readings. Our shop is run by Jasper and Cass, a queer, trans couple from Philly. Jasper is also disabled, and Cass is on medical leave, so this is our main source of income! We are both Hellenic pagan--Jasper has been practicing paganism for ~ 7 years with conjuring for ~ 2, and Cass has been practicing paganism for ~ 3 years, but dabbling in the spiritual for about the same amount of time. We work mostly with Hades and Persephone, and Cass also have an inclination towards Athena and Artemis, as Jasper does to Apollo and occasionally, Thanatos. Jasper is the main ‘worker’ ie, he does the readings and spirit work, etc. Cass is mainly the social media person/behind the scenes assistant/apprentice.
More than anything, our goal with Oh My Gods is to foster a healthy, safe and nurturing community for the pagan/witchy/spirit work community and beyond, and to improve our world as a whole! We will be doing lots of fun community events that don't require payment, and some extra ones that do! We're also hoping to start a wholly community-oriented server soon, once we have enough people interested!
We pride ourselves on our server and shop being:
- LGBT+ Inclusive! 🏳🌈
- BIPOC Inclusive! 💖
- Minority Inclusive! 🌸
- Choose your own roles! ☺
- Community AND shop! 🤘
- Community centered! 💐
- Pagan and witchy friendly! 🕯
- Pagan run, but not pagan exclusive! 🤝
We are hosting an opening celebration raffle, the prizes for which will be announced soon, and you can find more details on our Discord! You’ll get 2 ticket entries just for joining from Tumblr, so please do let us know if this is how you found us.
We'll be posting additional information about our different services soon, as well as general news updates on our Tumblr, so please do check back soon!
Thank you for checking out Oh My Gods, and we can't wait to meet you!
Please, for the love of Loki, let next Tuesdays neurology appointment give me enough answers that I can end the Diagnostics period and begin the management and adapting period. Please, let that neurologist figure out what's wrong with me. I promise, I will begin working on accepting my new life that I'm stuck in, I will search for the lessons and try to learn from them. I promise, I will fight to continue having a life instead of letting the pain consume me and turn me into a blob of misery. All I need is to move past this period of my life, this time of uncertainty. Make visible the page of my life story that is my current health problems, make it clear and easy to read so that the doctors can read it with ease and certainty, even if you have to make my health worse for them to see the signs clearer I'll take it. I'll take it and I'll grit my teeth through it and I'll survive, but I can't continue to live with this darkness cast over me. Shed light on my situation, please.
Low spoons worship tip:
Pray to your deities while you are lying down and resting.
On the bed, on the couch, under a blanket maybe. Just close your eyes, take some deep breaths, and pray. Out loud, in a whisper, or in your head.
It's one of my favorite things to do as a spoonie worshipper.
The energy is strange today and I don't know what I'm supposed to do with it. After so much ridiculous crap going on the last few days, I'm shocked to find I even have any energy at all. The body feels tired and weighed down, but the soul feels like it's buzzing, bristling with energy. It ripples through the skin of the body, but it does not energize the body itself. And thus lies my problem. But I can't rid myself of the body because the body is how I stay alive and on the material plane.
Chronic illness-friendly or low spoons hanging out with gods/spirits
my low spoons/bad illness or pain day form of connecting with my gods involves putting on a pair of sleeping headphones (flat, inside a headband, so you can lay on your side), music i associate with them, and then curling up in whatever way feels comfortable with that music and a wolf doll i got from a wolf conservation centre that’s the same colour i usually see dad as (solid black) in animal form.
i hold it regardless of who i’m talking to or trying to connect with - it’s comforting and i’ve formed an association between it and “time for gods/spirits.” i’ve been trying to find something to resemble mum’s other form, but swan dolls that look nice to sleep with instead of put on a shelf are hard to find. this might work?
not sure when i’ll be able to afford anything - probably not until after the end of winter, due to how expensive the heating is, but it will be nice to have for when i want to spend time with her specifically.
Attention Spoonie Pagans!
Two of my dear friends and I have set out on the journey of making a Facebook group for kindred spirits.
Because a lot of the time the life of the spoonie is heavily altered by our illnesses and/or disabilities, practicing paganism can be a different experience for us than for the healthy and/or able-bodied. We would like to create a safe space to share our practices and experiences under those pretenses.
If you are interested in joining and learning from others please PM me with your Facebook name or a link so I can add you as this is a secret group for obvious reasons.
Also feel free to PM me with any questions you may have before joining.
On Disabled Terms
I am not sure on whether or not the correct term is “blind” or “hard of seeing”, likewise I am not sure if the correct term is “deaf” or “hard of hearing.”
Before I make the reblog-if posts, would you all please let us know the correct terms? And, let us know what disabilities we are forgetting when the posts start circulating. -GlittchWittch
@pinewitch can you give us insight as to blind terminology?
As for the Deaf, it’s (d)eaf for those who are physically deaf and not a part of the cultural community. Usually, they will refer to themselves as hearing-impaired, deaf, or hard of hearing. (D)eaf for those who are. The correct terminology depends on how the person identifies, but Deaf or HoH (Hard of Hearing) are respectful terms. Those belonging to the Deaf culture DO NOT want to be referred to as ‘hearing impaired.’ Big no-no. However, HoH or just Deaf is fine.
I don’t know any blind people, but I do know a few Deaf-blind, so I could ask them. My friend is a contact-sign interpreter, so she would also know the correct terminology for the blind. - LavenderLipstickAndShit
