OVERHEARD
“So, given the realities,” I asked, “where are the consolations?”
“You’re still alive,” he answered. “There’s still time for kindness.”

OVERHEARD

Often, people don't talk about their expectations when others disappoint them. Instead, they usually say, 'It's okay.' The other person assumes it really is okay and continues to disappoint. Over time, one becomes so low-maintenance that disappointment feels inevitable.
But the truth is, it's not okay. Still, rather than causing a 'scene,' they accept defeat and move on. In the end, it's easier to just do things yourself than to expect anything from others.

It is tormenting when you see the people you love the most become the people they promised to never be.

It really sucks that regardless of friendship, relationship, family, I'll always be the one to put in more effort, until it burns me out and I just stop trying and walk away, losing yet another person in my life. I'm always told I should feel worth it to someone, but I've never felt worth it to anyone, ever.
I'm so tired of being disappointed in people.
the truth is, it's so hard to let go of someone you finally thought would stay.
you can't believe that, yet again, you gave too much to someone whose heart didn't have enough space to keep it all in.
guess it's just too hard to love me
