My comment (which is only my personal opinion and was typed up on the fly while eating breakfast, I didn’t put any research or deeper thought into it):
“Examine why. Like, what actually bothers you? Do you think you can’t have relationships? Wrong, read about happy a-spec relationships. Do you think you can’t have/ enjoy sex? Wrong, look up cupiosexual and sex-favorability. Do you think you can’t have a committed partnership? Wrong, QPRs, pseudo-romance, cupioromantic.
Like, I get that being aspec “others” us. But if it actively bothers you, sit down and examine why/ what aspect exactly bothers you, and then fiddle with that.
While I personally see no need to, I know you can even overcome sex-aversion. That is possible. I don’t want to, I don’t mind being sex-averse. But you COULD get more sex-favorable through e.g. therapy. It doesn’t change your orientation, it just modifies how you personally feel about engaging with sex acts.
So: don’t complain about “being aspec”, find out what bothers you and look into that.”
Daily Discussion Thread #4 (1/4/25)
Would you say having a likable protagonist is important to writing a good book? Does the main character need to be a good person, or just entertaining?
Furthermore, does the protagonist even need to be interesting at all? Opinions on this topic differ throughout time; Many older novels use protagonists as a vessel through which to tell the story, rather than as catalysts or characters in their own right.
Examples include Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot novels; Hastings is not important to the plot, he exists to convey what happens in the story. Using Poirot himself as a protagonist would defeat the point of a detective novel, so the duty falls to his assistant.
Which stories would you say benefit from having an important, likable, or interesting protagonist, and which suffer for it?

Screw Unicron, what if IDW Whirl was a Phase Sixer?
...Can we really call this a meme when it's so deeply analyzed and wholesome? 🥺💖
What Yoongi wants Yoongi gets falls under emotional manipulation, doesn't it, and not from Yoongi, but the fandom has made it into that. The intention is nice, but it's easy to guilt trip others (or even their own selves) to doing something if one thinks that would make a member happy (there are other complex aspects that I miss, but putting it simply), and seeing a member happy gives boost to repeating that, because then the members thank the fans more profusely and you feel loved by these idols you love. I'm not a psychologist or a neurologist, but I'm pretty sure there's some chemical things going on in the brain in these kinds of interactions. It's taking the parasocial relationship a bit too much into the territory of it being harmful for the fan. I'm personally checking myself constantly to not get too emotionally involved, because been there done that, and it wasn't good for my mental health.
This was so eloquent, thank you! I think it's always good to check with yourself where you stand and to even take a longer break if it's heavily affecting your mental state.<3 Me too, been there done that yrs ago.
Also, I won't say that Yoongi and other members are completely innocent because in this latest unboxing video he did say he's predicting that PTD will top the charts for 4-5 weeks.....which can be lowkey manipulation because there are fans who will do anything to make him happy, "we can't let him down", "we need to fulfill the prophecy".. Idk maybe I'm reading too much into it but he's not stupid.
Also I'm not sure what is happening on twt but I seems like PTD is a huge breaking point for the fandom because it's obviously divided into 2 sides: fans who are voicing their opinions and getting harrassed and the army. And in this whole chaos, it's kinda refreshing because it truly gives another, deeper perspective with everything going on.

Y’all I literally peak transed at the Vancouver rape relief drama. Like yes I was already doubting and kinda starting to see the light but that just did me in.
What was your slap-in-the-face peak trans moment?
