Real diet talk for a second?
Articles like the one I reblogged earlier make me super nervous. I do sometimes feel myself doing the “bad food do not eat” thing, but that’s with stuff like deep fried foods and “kitchen sink” brownies, and I often amend that to “eat sparingly.” Like, if
I try to eat a balanced diet with grains and meats, but just controlled portions! I eat Greek yogurt nearly daily (yes non-fat and low sugar, but still), and I have a varied diet that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables and carbs and protein, as well as healthy fats. I’d like to think I’m balanced, but then I read articles like that and worry.
What if my stomach troubles are caused by my diet? Or my back pain? Or that weird exhaustion I get at the end of the day? Am I hurting myself by trying to help myself?
Worse, am I fucking with my own thinking by sticking so strictly to my diet?
All I know is that I ate a piece of chocolate tonight because I fucking love chocolate and it’s been a while since I just ate a piece of chocolate. Not low-fat no-sugar-added chocolate frozen yogurt, a chunk of pure dark chocolate. (I just budgeted for it.) And I’m really looking forward to the “maintain” part of the diet, because I think I get more wiggle room for treats then.
