Current academic and creative projects include:
My third (of four) dissertation chapter. This one focuses on Tracy Deonn's Legendborn series and the meaningful ways in which Bree, Nick, and Sel subvert and extend Arthurian traditions.
An essay for a special edition of an academic journal on witchcraft on contemporary media, where I will speak about Star Wars's Nightsisters of Dathomir as Arthurian enchantresses (focusing particularly on Morgan Elsbeth, extending work on my second dissertation chapter, Asajj Ventress, Merrin, and a light touch on the coven on Brendok).
Fingers crossed my chapter proposal on toxic masculinity in David Lowery's Green Knight is accepted then it's a fast turnaround to finish that.
Proposing a joint workshop with a colleague for DeagonCon this year (there is an academic conference within the con I've spoken at twice now) about marginalia and imagery in medieval lit. It would have a bookmark to make and take with you after our workshop.
Journaling a run through a new two person TTRPG I backed on Kickstarter called Glatisant, where you play as a Knight Errant and Questing Beast. I think I'll be using it in my classroom in the spring as a journaling exercise so I want to play with it a lot.
I used to knock stuff like this out with a speed that felt unreal, now I struggle to put an hour or two in a day. Part of that is just working at the post grad level, part is that, as my dad helpfully pointed out, I'm older than I was before, and also the past five years have put me through a ringer..
No specific reason for this post besides getting it out of my head. If anyone wants to chat about any of these areas of interest I'm always happy for that, too!
