It arguably shouldn’t have taken as long to get back to the Temple as it should have, but Rahi supposed that’s what happened when one tried to return without knowing directions. Their best chance was trying to find Homura again, but even then the sheer distance made it hard to go straight home.
It was already past sunrise of the following day. The poor Tapu hadn’t been trying to get back all night, had they? No, undoubtedly Cupcakes wouldn’t have allowed that, especially of a child.
“Oh! It’s home!”
..Oh. Even Rahi seemed genuinely surprised when they found the right island. Looking back at the taller woman, they motioned for her to follow, dissipating into a flurry of pink leaves as their small shaymin-looking form bounced across the worn pathway.
Daddy? Daddy I’m back!
Their voice echoed, rippling through the air as they made a beeline into the only building in sight, resembling an oversized cathedral.
“...Mm? Rahi? Did you get lost? You could have summoned Empress to retrieve you.”
He sounded no worse for wear, luckily. There was a quiet laugh as he coddled the small child, pausing when he caught sight of the certain Giratina. Who was this human? ...No. She wasn’t human. There was a long pause as weary golden eyes squinted at her for a beat before the golden bird finally sat up from his human-sized futon and spoke up.
“Cupcakes?”
