Mugs! I decided that for Christmas presents this year I'm going to do mugs for my friends and family, so these were my testers. I did a quote from Hamilton and a quote from the Lunar Chronicles! I really like the Lunar Chronicles one. I did it second, so I think it came out better than the Hamilton one. MATERIALS To make them I used Sharpie OIL BASED paint pens that were 16.99 for a package of 5 at Michaels, and there was a special deal of buy one get one 50% off. So I bought two 16.99 packs and a duel metallic set for 8.99 then a single fine tipped black for I think 3.99. With the discounts it came to about 39 dollars so I definitely am going to have to save up some money before I can buy anything else! The mugs can be found at the Dollar Tree for a dollar to help offset the expensive markers. YOU HAVE TO USE OIL BASED MARKERS FOR THESE MUGS. If you use regular sharpies, which are water based, the pen will wash off in the dishwasher. I haven't run these through the dishwasher yet (I hand washed them once before using them then again afterwards) but most people say they hold up pretty well in the dishwasher. If you're nervous, just hand wash them! PROCEDURE Once you put your design on your mugs, turn your oven to 350 and set the mugs inside AS THE OVEN HEATS UP. Once it gets heated, set the timer to 30 minutes and let them bake. Once they're done, just leave them in the oven to cool off. I did this late last night around 9 PM so I just left them overnight. I used them today and so far they're doing pretty well. I hope this is helpful. Good luck!
