So, after a rather long grind going until the very wee hours of the morning today...
I can now pull an all nighter playing Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep!!! Been wanting to play it since I got it for Borderlands 2. This will hopefully be as good as I've heard it is. Really excited to try it out!
ITS TRUE
ODIN SELENA AND LASLOW REALLY ARE OWAIN SEVERA AND INIGO SHIT
Payday 2
This is the last blog post for this semester. It has been a great experience for me to write my feelings about games that I played and loved. And this last post will be about a game that I just got during Thanksgiving break and have been playing unstoppably for the past three days. The game is Payday 2.
The game’s story is simple but attractive. This is a maximum four players cooperative game doing heist missions. Missions include but limited to bank robbing, jewery store robbing, drug manufacturing, gold stealing etc. There are usually two ways of doing mission: stealth and loud, and sometimes there is only one way to go down. The choice is up to the crew.
For each mission there are 5 different difficulties: normal, hard, very hard, overkill and deathwish. As the difficulty increases, the payment increases, and the more hardcore cops are. They are harder to kill, and boss level cops such as cloaker who can instantly take down criminals, heavy who are pretty much indestructable unless you have a flamethrower, and tazers who are super annoying, able to paralyze players unless teammates shoot down the tazer.
The variety of weaponary and masks is a key feature of this game, with the most lucrative three letters of course: DLC! I got the Game of The Year edition so I own half of the DLCs. Although I am unable to play weapons such as bows, crossbows, flamethrower and heavy machine guns, I am satisfied with what I have so far. Becaues of the division between “offshore account transaction” and “spendable cash,” though I earned, saying 10000$ from a mission, I am only allowed to spend 1000 from it, and the rest is transacted. I have no idea what is it for, and it bothers me a lot. But hey, the best part of this game is to enjoy playing with your friends.
Organizing a thought or two about fandom vs. canon, thoughts below the cut if you feel like it (i talk a little about the new trailer but mostly about the fandom’s reaction to it, not the content of the trailer itself, shouldn’t be spoilery)
So i’m seeing a lot of people responding to the new trailer with almost... anger? disdain maybe? it’s a little hard to describe, but the general tone i’m getting from the discussion has been:
“they better not charge for this DLC. they’re calling it the end of the Inquisition’s story, so that should have been included in the actual game. it’s a scam. they’re just trying to take our money”
i disagree, for three reasons.
first: there are any number of real, honest, legitimate reasons that DLC exists in ADDITION to full-length games:
they wanted to explore minor characters
they wanted to test reactions to new ideas
there’s a new setting area they want to flesh out
there was a plot thread whose resolution didn’t fit the narrative flow of the main writing arc
they want to fill the content void between major releases
they had an idea for something that happened after their story wrapped
they wanted to revisit old favorite characters, but an epilogue chapter would have drained the energy of the actual narrative’s ending
second: you don’t have to buy it, guys. if you just want to know what happens in the DLC--wait a week after it releases and look up the playthrough videos on youtube. if you’re not interested, then eh *shrug* whatevs, man. if you don’t like their official ending, write an au fanfic or something. nbd.
third: Dragon Age: Inquisition is a complete game, a complete story arc. From your quizzy’s origins, to building the Inquisition, to meeting your mysterious villain and on to defeating him and celebrating your victory, the narrative is COMPLETE. Just because with it ends with questions still lingering doesn’t mean any DLC they put out is a scam. it means they’re allowing the story to end at an appropriate emotional place, and letting any stories that follow be their own complete narratives.
acting like they’re trying to “scam” or “cheat” you with offering this new content assumes you were entitled to this content in the first place, and that they’re charging you extra for something they should have already given you. do you guys realize how entitled that sounds? Dragon Age: Inquisition was HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF GAMEPLAY LONG, what more do you want???
tl;dr: i know that all you guys really wanted was the chance to grab Solas by the scruff of his neck and drag him off to get some fucking answers after the credits rolled, but it probably would have drained the energy out of the game’s actual ending, so it’s probably a good thing they’re dealing with it separately okay

SOON.
Just a quick shout to let you PC players know that Hearthfire and Dawnguard are both on sale!
The other day they were something like 20% off, and right now they are 50% off! That deal will last for another 36 hours or so, so you might want to seriously think about treating yourself to the DLC before Dragonborn!
