You know, I told myself that I wasn't going to do any fanwanking after I saw the season finale. Because I'm sick of theorizing about things, while the show just constantly sets up things but barely reveals anything.

But with that said...

Until the show says otherwise? I'm going to believe that the reason Armand didn't tell Daniel about their past relationship together was not that he was being sneaky or was hiding things to achieve the goal of his larger plan, or anything like that.

I'm going to believe that Armand didn't tell Daniel (and by proxy, us, the viewing audience) because of two words he said to Daniel back in Season 2: Tabula Rasa.

Clean Slate.

I think, given some things Assad said and the fact that Assad actually took the trouble of writing Armand's apology letter to Daniel, I am going to believe, for now, that the apology Armand tried to give to Daniel was sincere.

That with Daniel, at the very least, Armand did sincerely mean what he was trying to say.

And yes, I do 100% believe that Armand never intended to tell Daniel that he loved him ... until he did it.

So after he did tell Daniel he loved him, what then?

Well, for now, I believe that Armand felt he could tabula rasa his relationship with Daniel.

Because Daniel clearly doesn't remember their past together.

And Armand clearly has some real regrets about what happened with Daniel during their past together.

So why bring any of that past up to Daniel, after you spilled the beans about loving him, when you never intended to do so? However, now that you did, why not just be with Daniel again, right now, while also not having to both carry the weight and regrets of the past that would come with it if Daniel did remember ... or might remember if he were told about it?

So yeah, that's what I'm going with about it, right now. Armand didn't tell Daniel of their past because he wanted to tabula rasa the whole thing between them when going into a companionship with Daniel, again ... for as long as he could, at any rate.

Armand tracked down Daniel and planned to finish the job?

I think he gave Louis the updates after he started following Daniel to save face. I don’t think Louis actually wanted or asked for them but over time he probably grew to be interested in the updates.

Was it one sided as everyone is doom posting?

I guess…?

That would be disappointing, obviously. But I have a feeling it’s a little more nuanced.

Daniel has told us time and time again he doesn’t remember large portions of his life. There are large blocks of time he straight up forgot.

So who can help fill in those blocks? Or who was possibly the reason he doesn’t remember?

I don't know if this question has already been asked, but how do you think Daniel will regain his memory of Armand?

So yeah, I have been asked this before, but given the new information we have about Armand and Daniel wrt Season 3, I can update my answer.

So, I think Daniel will regain his memories sometime in Season 4. After whatever happens to him at the end of Season 3.

Which, yes, at the moment, I do think will be the death of his biological body. (And yes, there is still the possibility that such a death wouldn't happen until Season 4, but just go with me here.)

I've always felt that whichever season the show revealed the full, past relationship between Armand and Daniel, would be the season when Daniel would get his full memories back.

Because the original Devil's Minion chapter in the books is told in flashback. And it is fully told from Daniel's point of view.

And with the way I see this show going with Armand, and how Season 3 might end with General Audiences (many of whom are the ones mainly doing YouTube reactions to the show) thinking he was lying the whole time about loving Daniel? Because that is what many of them think about it all right now?

Showing Daniel's POV of everything that happened between him and Armand in the past will make it very clear to everyone watching that no, not only was Armand not lying about how much he loves Daniel, but that Daniel deeply reciprocated that love as well.

So yeah, how Daniel finally gets his memories back, I do think will come with his death at the moment, most likely. And I can see his memory regaining being a gradual process, taking some time as it happens. And which, as he does so, we viewers seeing exactly what Daniel is remembering about his and Armand's past relationship together over that time.

Hopefully, culminating in us seeing exactly how and why they ended up split up (which I still very much believe was Marius' doing).

So yeah, at the moment, this is when and how I think Daniel will get his memories back. And even though I feel less sure about how it will happen, I do feel pretty sure about the when that it will. Because it will make for a very natural transition into the flashbacks of the past Devil's Minion, time period, and story/romance.

New Section: DM Theory

As the title says above, I will be adding a new section to my blog that will be called DM Theory. I will be discussing my various theories on how to run an game that will keep you and your players entertained. These are by no means the end all way to run the perfect game. The advice here won’t streamline game play or help you balance that encounter. Hell, it won’t make you a better DM. They’re just general issues involving the human element that I have noticed over the years from both sides of the table.

I will tag all these posts as #DM Theory for future reference.
