Surprised I actually got this out in time (well, a little early in my timezone, but whatever.) Happy Valentines Day! My idea was after Dante returns after DMC 2, Lady shows up drunk and missing him. Here's the snippet that idk if I'll finish it, but I liked it enough to make a comic. It's a little more suggestive than the comic fair warning:
Dante woke up abruptly as a woman kicked his door down.
He hadn’t really slept in… well, since a day or two before he left for Dunmary. It was honestly a good test of his endurance, but one he never wanted to repeat. He’d literally just laid his head down after going on a mission with Lucia before she returned to her home. It’d been good to see her after so long, or more specifically, good to see her adjusting well to find out she was a demon.
But she’d returned home, and Dante had made a few calls to see if anyone was still in town. He’d been a little sad, but not surprised when Lady hadn’t answered, but he should have known better. She was a strange mix of pride and tenderness.
To his surprise, Lady didn’t call out angrily for him. Instead, she closed the front door with a slam and made her way up his stairs. She opened the door to his bedroom and Dante could smell the alcohol on her. She had a bottle of something that she clumsily set on the bedside table, and crawled into his bed without saying anything to him.
“Stupid Dante,” she muttered, curling in on herself like she would sometimes. He was surprised to see her.
“Lady?”
“Dante,” she muttered, and rolled over to look at him. “Hmm you look real…”
Before he could say more, she crawled over him and pinned him to the bed. “I saw Lucia again. She keeps coming by, says she’s waiting on you.”
“Interesting woman, isn’t she?”
“Don’t talk about another woman while you’re in bed with me,” Lady slurred.
“Lady, you brought her up.”
“It’s not fair,” Lady muttered.
“What isn’t?”
“That you’re in hell right now and not with me… Killing demons without me…”
“Lady, I am with you.”
“No,” she denied, “you’re dream Dante.”
Dante, despite his exhaustion, couldn’t help but laugh. “I know I’m dreamy, but for once I am with you. I just got out of the underworld this morning.”
“Really?” she asked, and then pressed her face to his chest, inhaling deeply. “You don’t smell like underworld.”
“I took a shower.”
“If you’re back, why didn’t you call me?”
“I did call you, you didn’t pick up.”
She sat back on him and furrowed her brow. “Why aren’t you hard?”
“Because,” he replied testily, “I am exhausted. Bother me in the morning, I’m sure I’ll be ready to go.”
With a fair amount of disappointment, she laid back down next to him, asking petulantly. “Dream Dante, you’re not even offering to go down on me.”
“Do I usually do that?” he asked.
“You do!”
It wasn’t like he had a particular aversion to it, Lady usually just grew too impatient to let him.
“Dream Dante,” she repeated, “You’re acting a lot like real Dante.”
“I’d say I’m sorry, but I am the real Dante.”
“It’s okay,” she said, and pressed a sloppy kiss his cheek before settling back on his side. “Real Dante is my favorite."
Something in Dante clenched and he glanced down to see Lady’s now peaceful face. He smiled, and put an arm around her. “You’re pretty charming when you want to be.”
She said nothing, having already fallen asleep. With that, Dante finally fell asleep as well.
