Beautiful Baroque recording of Bach’s Cello Suite in D Minor, played by Eva Lymenstull
Bach all day.
A classic, the Double Concerto in D Minor. Bach’s dialogue between the violins is a marvel, executed here by Yehudi Menuhin and David Oistrakh.
Above all, the second movement is a crown jewel. The intimacy of the violin dialogue here, the beauty of the main theme... Well, I will leave it to you to hear.
Few movements are more beautiful than the second movement from Bach’s Double Violin Concerto in D Minor, played here by the incomparable Yehudi Menuhin and David Oistrakh.
Practicing the #trio from #minuet from #stringquartet in #dminor K 421 by #mozart found in #suzukiviolinmethod book 7. This passage is tricky for intonation and especially for rhythm. It’s an exposed passage with mostly pizzicato accompaniment in the other instruments and it’s easy to inadvertently displace the beat by one 16th note. Here’s how I practice and present it to my class: 5 videos: 1) Intonation drill - fill in the intervals between all non-consecutive fingers on the same string. This trains exact interval placement of minor vs major thirds. ~swipe left~ 2) Vibrato practice. Elongate the first note of each slur and ensure it is vibrated from the moment it sounds. Let the second notes receive any “residual” vibrato from the first note. This will ensure proper emphasis of the first note and help keep the ensemble together. ~swipe left~ 3) Subdivide to practice the rhythmic relationship between the slurred notes. Vibrate the first note of each slur if not an open string. ~swipe left~ 4) “Step” on the main beats while playing to feel the shorter note as the beat. ~swipe left~ 5) Performance version. #violinteacher #violinpractice #practiceroom #wamozart #wolfgangamadeusmozart #violinguy #lingling40hours #violinlove #violinfun #vibrato #suzukiviolinteacher #violintechnique #violintips #violinpedagogy #violinclass #practicemakesprogress #beautifulmusic #practicepracticepractice #violinmaster (at Washington D.C.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CS6yqYqgTVn/?utm_medium=tumblr
#2ndposition is my favorite fingering for the beginning of #stringquartet in #dminor K421 #minuet by #mozart which is featured in #suzukiviolinmethod #book7 This fingering maintains clear #lefthand #articulation avoids unintentional slides in shifting and creates a #stringcrossing symmetry between the descending #perfectfourth intervals “Mozart” (swipe left for second video) #mozartmonday #wamozart #wolfgangamadeusmozart #amadeusmozart #amadeus #violintips #violintechnique #violinpractice🎻 #violinmasterclass #violinteacher #beautifulmusic #chambermusic #mostlymozart #suzukiviolinteacher (at Washington D.C.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQYWQ9BAQsw/?utm_medium=tumblr
