Bro im killing my dm i swear. THE FUCKER MADE ME INTO A ZOMBIE VAMPIRE! right me and my party were walking in some cave and there was some weird room with a chest. Of course my character being curious opens it, cuz no ones else wanted to. The moment i open the chest fucking magic flows out of it and affects my character! We find a scroll in the chest saying 'in bold letters DO NOT OPEN THE CHEST AT THE END OF THIS DUNGEON if you have there is a cure.' Me and my party knew we were fucked when my dm said i feel hungry and cant go into the sun. The sun thing is based on minecraft zombies and the hunger on normal vampires. Like constant hunger. My partys big guy legit put me in a fucking sack to keep me safe from the sun. We luckily also have a scroll of the ingredients for the cure considering the dragonborn in the group is the dragon Queen son. So yay d&d is so fun.. let me know if yall wanna know more about my d&d party. Its called dark flamss btw and god the lore is so wild.
Curse: ADD\ADHD
Effect: -1 inventory of all types
Description: regardless of what it is, user affected will forget 1 item somewhere. Level of importantance depends on roll. Item forgotten can be physical or can also be an action if user affected has been given a list a tasks.
Curse is permanent, not removable. Closest cure is "Creates List" which can hold list the items\tasks needed, however "created list" can also be lost.
ooooh, I love Doc's new references!!! If you don't mind me asking, can I ask about his curse? I'm sorry if you've talked about it before, but I'm very curious. I fucking LOVE cursed characters, and they're SO MUCH FUN to play with, especially if you have a good DM (especially especially if you have a good DM who likes to "yes, and..." your crazy ideas, akjdsakdas.).
One of my current dnd characters is also cursed, and it's a lot of fun, especially because he's determined to hide it and pretend that he's fine for as long as he physically possibly can, and then keep lying to cover it up. (My boy is a swashbuckler with expertise in both persuasion and deception, and also happens to be more or less a compulsive liar.)
(Oh, speaking of swashbucklers, that one pirate NPC you drew and posted a while back? He is GORGEOUS. I'm about as (aesthetically) in love with him as an aroace person can be. Though I won't deny the fact that he's a pirate makes it even better...)
I’M SO HAPPY YOU ASKED, I’m always down to info dump about my characters!!!!
So Doc was born into a well know adventuring family, whose bloodline were blessed by the gods and divine, leading to everyone having innate magic of some kind, except when he was born, he didn’t get any. All throughout his childhood, he tried to learn magic in a lot of different ways, but to no avail. The lack of magic also led to him being sort of the disappointment child of the family.
Later in Docs life, a few years back from where we’re at in the campaign, he got pretty desperate and conducted an ancient and mysterious ritual, in a last ditch effort to gain any type of magic. The ritual backfired and he gained his curse! At least thats his conclusion, he thinks it’s either a curse of a magical disease of some kind.
Currently Doc absolutely despises magic, he doesn’t want anything cast on him, and he’s always saying whatever magic can do, he can do better with machinery and science. (He knows this isn’t true, but he’s stubborn and arrogant, and refuses to accept it)
Anyways the curse was only up to his wrist when the campaign started, he kept it well hidden from his party members
But then we went into “the nothing”. To understand what that is I have to explain the campaign setting, so; basically, around 500 years ago, a rift opened where the sun was, blocking it out. Then a darkness started pouring out of the rift. This darkness is filled with unimaginable horrors, and few survive going in there, the ones that do come back changed. (They are called the ashfallen, one of our party member, Il, is one)
This darkness, later dubbed the nothing, started expanding, and has been consuming the world slowly over centuries. Currently there’s only one continent left, called Ethnass, a newly discovered, wildly magical land thats now a culture clash filled with conflict
ANYWAYS, long story short, at the ripe level of 2, we went into the nothing. It was wild (and a long story, if anyones interested I’ll talk more about it)
When we eventually got out of the nothing, freshly traumatised, Doc’s curse had grown all the way up to under his shoulder. And when he tried to inspect or look at it, he got a deep feeling of dread and discomfort, like the hand wasn’t his own. So he’s covered it up for now, trying to find a way to get rid of it
Last session we actually met an NPC with the same looking curse, and Doc got to ask him a few questions (it was rushed, he’s going to ask more questions next session). He figured out the curse is called void decay, and it shows up when people find out too much, or get too close magically to the nothing, so I now know it’s connected to the nothing!
Anyways our DM is AMAZING, and such a good storyteller. I’m his biggest fan fr. The way he worldbuilds and drags our characters into the world is absolutely amazing, he really makes out characters connected to the world! We’ve played about 11 sessions so far and I’m so attached to the world and characters
A Small follow up: Signs of a Curse.
This more background effects rather than the effect of a curse, that will be saved for a later day. So may I present a grab bag of signs or effects to present the inclination of a curse on someone/something/somewhere. (Of course you don’t need to use for curses, it can be use just to describe something)

Curse - Host of the Leeching Void
Curse, or a blessing. Neither, or both.
The soul is a powerful thing, brimming with arcane energy and unlimited potential. Be careful where you send it.
It starts off noble enough. An offer is made by a shaded figure, perhaps a plan to rid the world of unworthy souls. To purge it of the murderers, the hateful, the corrupt. It will bring you up the right path, the one you wish to travel along. It will help you grow. All it takes is being a gateway, sending those souls to the void. You have no inkling as to what this void is, but it sounds fitting for such terrible beings, so you agree. A single rune etches itself into your skin, and a power unlike any you’ve felt before surges through you. It is cold, it is dark, it is.. A void. Like the sensation before your empty stomach rumbles, the silence before the first clap of thunder, the cracks in the ground, gasping before the first rain. It is emptiness. A lack of existence. You now know that this feeling, this hole, is where the doomed souls are going. You now know that they, and the everything they carry with them, will cease to exist.
One soul. Two souls. Fifteen souls. Ninety-four souls. The number climbs as your power grows, the magic granted swiftly eating away at anything which opposes you. With each unspoken milestone, another rune etches itself onto your skin, each one granting you that by now familiar surge of energy. You call it energy, but it is indescribable. It is exhilarating, even as it fills you with the sense of being on the brink of starvation. It doesn’t matter. All you can think of is filling the void. Because surely, the void can be filled. It must be filled. You begin covering your arms as the runes spread across them. Others would ask, but they wouldn’t understand. Hide it. Don’t speak of it.
That hungry void, sparked by an eerie blue light from within.. That sphere of absolute darkness, which inhales life like you do air... It is no longer an ability for the wicked, whose souls cannot be redeemed. It is for any who raises their hand against you. The more souls you shepherd to the void, the more you grow, the more you can accomplish. That’s how it’s always been. That’s how it’ll always be, until the void is filled.
And the void must be filled.
Could you resist the temptation?
