(Open image in a new tab for fullsize). I finally got around to watching what has currently been uploaded of the brilliant, "Infiltration of the Daleks" fan work and naturally I had some thoughts. Highly reccomended if you haven't already seen it, it's left me happily wanting more, (especially regarding Perpetuity) and inspired a few ideas. For a group that supposedly values efficiency they seem to enjoy seemingly needless theatrics and frivolities such as: extended monologues, custom shaped windows, and specifically located prisoner trapdoors.

When you find yourself in tears (and you NEVER CRY) over the fact that your new primary care doctor’s appointment was canceled after over 7 months of waiting for it and THERE IS NO OTHER DOCTOR TO TAKE YOU ON.
I LIVE WITH CHRONIC PAIN. I have new symptoms, that are frankly terrifying. My pain is spreading from my back, there are some days I can’t even stand for more than 60 seconds without feeling as if I’m going to collapse. I need to see a doctor who can actually help me. All the ER does is give me pills and doctors notes.
I need testing. I need continued care, maybe a physiatrist, definitely PT. I NEED A PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN! I HAVE BEEN PAYING FOR HEALTH INSURANCE I CANNOT USE BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE ONE.
How will I survive this winter without the help of a doctor? How will I keep whatever job I manage to find after losing mine if I can barely walk? Barely stand? Even sitting up is too taxing at times. I need a goddamn doctor. I wish there was some way to jump the line in front of the healthy people who don’t battle pain every day of their lives. See the doctor before the person who goes in when they have a virus so they can get a doctor’s note. Because those people could probably stand to wait another 8 months for an appointment. I fucking can’t. I just want some help so I can function. So I can find the strength to get up and walk to the bathroom when I need to in stead of having to put it off until it’s an emergency because the thought of having pressure on my joints is just that terrifying.
Like holy fuck I need a goddamn doctor! I’m completely out of spoons, and I’ve only been starting the day with 3 lately. How am I supposed to work and make enough money to live?
Twenty states have passed laws allowing nurse practitioners to perform duties usually reserved for doctors, without a physician's supervision. It's a boon for rural states where doctors are scarce, but MD's argue patient care suffers. This is just one aspect of the new direction medicine is taking towards lowering costs and taking advantage of higher tech alternatives, like telemedicine and remote controlled surgery.
