Oreo's Twitter Habits
I thought it was time to check back in with Oreo's social media to see what they were up to! I particularly went and looked at their Twitter, and I noticed about three Tweets that have been posted within the last day. However, before that there hadn't been a Tweet since St. Patrick's Day and even before then the Tweets were more spread out over every few days or so. Personally, when it comes to Twitter I feel like multiple Tweets per day isn't a bad thing, especially for marketing purposes. It doesn't always have to include art (which Oreo's Tweets usually do) but just Tweeting enough to engage with followers and remind them your product exists. This is something that I think Oreo could do a better job of. What are your thoughts on Twitter?
Cinnamon Bun Oreo, Anyone?
When you’re reading a good book, having a snack handy can make the experience even more fulfilling. One of my favorite snacks is Oreos. The company has a wide social media presence on websites like Facebook, Twitter,Instagram, and YouTube.
Recently, Oreo released a new limited edition flavor that I’m obsessed with, Cinnamon Bun Oreos. I was told about these from a friend and immediately went to buy a package to try them, and they taste like a creamy, cinnamon piece of heaven. Naturally, I expected to see several social media posts about the new flavor, but they were a bit tricky to track down. Oreo’s Facebook page made a post with a short clip from a video on YouTube about Oreo’s new Wonder Vault, in which the new flavor is mentioned. However, this same campaign has not been mentioned yet on their Twitter or Instagram pages, which is a missed opportunity considering the mass amount of followers each of those accounts has. Fans follow different kinds of social media accounts, so when promoting a new flavor or campaign, it’s important to post about it on a multitude of social media websites to reach more fans, which Oreo hasn’t done with this campaign yet. This campaign is something I will be keeping my eye on in particular to see how it plays out.
