If someone made a mistake, I DON'T THINK THEY DESERVE TO PAY FOR IT EVERYDAY.
Forget
Forgive and forget, they say. Some people say they'll forgive but not forget. That's bad, because having a memory of some shit that you hate is the worst imaginable torture. Worst still, some things are entirely unforgivable.
So the best solution is to forget. I'd choose forget over forgive any day. Forget, and you'll have nothing to forgive. What's more, some people don't deserve a space in your memory. In that case, just hit the delete button and wipe everything related to them from your storage.
Forgiveness
I keep making the same mistake. The same stupid, stupid mistake. I forgive everyone. No matter what they did, or said. I forgive. All the time. But it’s slowly killing me. I can feel it burning my heart, because although forgiveness can be easier than not forgiving, it still affects you. It still affects me. His bitter words seeping through my skin. His palm on my face, not in the soft and gentle way, but the kind that makes your skin feel like acid. But then I let it happen again. I let him back inside, I bring down my walls and let him get inside my head again. But then he hits me. Or comes home drunk. Or sleeps with another woman. It’s always just more, more and more until I break again and he wins. He wins another round. And he’s smiling at his victory, while I’m crying over the fact that he hurt me. Although he didn’t. I hurt myself. The only reason his actions were hurting me is because I let them. I let him do this to me, I let him hurt me. I let him win. That’s why forgiveness can hold such power. Choosing whether you want to forgive someone is one the toughest choices, and often people choose the wrong choice because they want the easy way out. So they forgive, then they get hurt and then they forgive again. It’s just a cycle. A never ending, deadly cycle. But this is where I put my foot down. He’s hurt me too many times—to the point where I’m lying on the cool kitchen floor crying. I’m not forgiving. I’m not letting my guard down. I’m stopping this cycle and breaking it forever. Because I’ve finally learn that forgiving isn’t loving. And walking away isn’t losing—it’s winning.

neither law, nor love, nor league of swords, nor dread nor danger, not Doom itself shall defend him
excerpt from the Oath of Fëanor
You forgive others so easily yet you won’t forgive yourself. That’s not the way to do it. You don’t have to forgive others, you can stay mad at them for the rest of your life, you don’t even have to see or talk to them for the rest of your life. Don’t forgive them, forget them and find better people to be in your life. But you have to forgive yourself because you will spend the rest of your life with yourself. There simply is no other option. So stop punishing yourself and take care of yourself.
