VENTING SESSION ABOUT SKY

OK im pissed

This is a venting session, so anything i say here now, doesnt reflect how i'll feel or think as a person in the future, im just pissed.

OK, so i played Sky CotL in the mornings;

I cant during the rest of the day, cuz im usually really busy and don't have time for it. So i made my gaming time in the morning. Also during the morning i work. I'm trying to become a writer and an artist so a lot of my time has been taken up by that. I'm trying to get serious about my life.

So for context for non players:

There is an area in Sky called Grannies, and in Grannies you get wax, wax accumulates into candles which is the currency in game. Grannies lasts around 10 minutes. During these 10 mins, players can AFK or burn the wax til its over. Some bring fire props to help burn things, some don't. It's a very common occurrence to see 1 or more people AFKing here.

i go to Grannies today and i sit in the chairs. I always go AFK at grannies, its one of the few times i can sit back at get my work started. The background noise and music is also very peaceful and it helps me focus.

Well i sit down at the chairs, and i get ready to start AFKing and this group of 4 chibis come in. I didnt think anything of it cuz lot of people are around during Grannies. This group however decided to honk incessantly at me and then one of them sat down and started chatting.

I said "please let me AFK in peace"

They go on to call me a parasite and to "go somewhere else"

Like um, what?!?!?

you don't get to gatekeep a server wide event, just cuz im going AFK to do my work, no. Tons of other people go AFK here, you dont see me pestering and being rude to them. I leave them be cuz i know not everyone on Sky is a kid or bratty teenager. There are adults, like me, who have lives and jobs, we dont have all the time in the world to play this game.

I turned my game volume all the way down cuz 3 of them were spam honking at me the whole time i was there, i could barely focus. When Grannies was over they still pestered me. I had to TP [teleport] home and go back through the Hidden Forest Gate in order to finish the CR [candle run] there.

I only have 1 person blocked in my Sky list. An these 4 immature and rude ass Chibi's take the fucking hall of fame cuz OH MY GODS! Who tf does this?! What makes you think you have any right to tell other players how to play a game??!

I made a post in a community forum, hoping to vent my frustration out about it. Once the comments started coming in i was shocked and appalled at how many people were taking their side!!! I got called both lazy for not having a fire prop yet, eve tho i dont even prioritze the props; i dont care for them, i never use them; and a mooch for needing to go AFK in the first place. LIKE WTF?!

How tf is me AFKing without a fire prop any different than someone else doing the same thing?!

[sarcasm] Im sorry i have shit i need to work on, in order to live a stable life, and i dont prioritize this stupid kids game over that!! Like wtf?!

im not sorry but wtf is this bullshit behavior?

How tf am i getting called a parasite and mooch for needing to AFK in order to get work done?? Im still trying to wrap my brain around that.

Anyway, not all the comments were bad.

Some people were agreeing with me. Some were baffled by the other comments too.

I sometimes loathe the Sky community. There's a select few that like to wear this game likes its jewelry and basically police others into playing the way they think Sky should be played.

Its gross. Games should be played to have fun for yourself, not to have someone else's fun.

Thankfully i'll probably never run into those 4 ever again. So at least thats a plus.

Cheryl is my favourite character in witw and ive made NOOO secret of it but she isnt very necessary to the plot. At all. She's literally just chiefs evil gf. Cheryl ilysm girl but you do NOT do much or say much in this show

anyway also I wanted to say I do NOT gatekeep my girl. I don't gatekeep characters chat (someone thought I did ((not hate to them they're awesome)) and I felt the need to clarify because CHARACTERS ARE FOR EVERYONE!! ITS FUN!!)

I keep seeing other wizards, warlocks, mages, and witches gatekeeping towards people who can't afford fancy orbs and runes. Like not everyone can afford fancy spells and scrolls. We're not all made of money.

Hell, I could barely afford my orb with 5 channels on it. Connecting to the arcane should NOT have to be expensive.

Also you shouldn't be putting down newer wizards, we all come from somewhere, alright?

You guys are forgetting where you came from.

So next time you think of gatekeeping and telling someone they arent real wizards because they can't afford fancy spells and runes, think twice. Maybe guide them with making DIY things or to cheeper resources.
