For doomsday trio prompts- dream passing out in weird places. He hasn’t slept in two days, and could go for more, really, but it’s really warm and feels safer than anything has for a long time.
combining this with @3nderm1te's prompt shared via discord where dream gets this treatment from philza. related somewhat to this drabble.
--------------
Techno didn't snitch when Dream fell asleep for a few minutes by the fireplace. Philza had some errands to run before they could head off to the nether, and although Dream's face was covered (as always), his head lulled softly against the cushion of his chair while they sat waiting. It was early in the morning, and Dream just traveled from who-knows-where to get to the cabin, and young men get tired sometimes. Techno raised an eyebrow, but he just turned his attention back to his book, and he didn't snitch.
Techno also didn't snitch when Dream fell asleep by the enchantment table. Dream's knee-guards were missing Thorns, which bothered Techno very much, and while he was working to fix the problem he saw the same gentle, fast fall into sleep as before. When the job was completed, he said, "There we go," at his normal volume, and Dream sprung awake and continued as though nothing happened. Techno turned his head to hide his smirk, and he didn't snitch.
This time, Dream fell asleep while sitting cross-legged on the ground with his back leaning against Steve.
There was very little left to do. It was the night before the battle, and they just completed one final inventory of all the items they needed. Phil and Techno broke into a brief conversation of which dogs were fit for fighting and which should be left behind, and sometime during that conversation, Dream drifted off. Techno barely blamed him-- only the fireplace lit the space, the conversation was quite warm, and Steve is quite comfortable. With his face obscured, he looked like he was simply lounging against the polar bear.
Finally, the CEO of a brokerage house explained that he had nearly completed building his own underground bunker system, and asked: “How do I maintain authority over my security force after the event?” … This single question occupied us for the rest of the hour. They knew armed guards would be required to protect their compounds from raiders as well as angry mobs. … But how would he pay the guards once even his crypto was worthless? What would stop the guards from eventually choosing their own leader?
…
I tried to reason with them. … The way to get your guards to exhibit loyalty in the future was to treat them like friends right now, I explained. … They rolled their eyes at what must have sounded to them like hippy philosophy.
These people are either clueless or sociopathic.
Never before have our society’s most powerful players assumed that the primary impact of their own conquests would be to render the world itself unliveable for everyone else.
PSA. Good to look over, so you know what’s covered, and then bookmark. No need to read the whole thing yet--it’s about as long as a Harlequin romance (or so I’m told--of course I wouldn’t know).
This week is my last week working part time remotely 😭.
I'm going to desperately miss the days I don't have to leave the house but (amazingly) I'm ready to have a work/home separation. I've been feeling like a worthless employee lately and even though I *know* that's not the case my extreme guilt needs to not wonder what people are thinking I'm doing while working from home (even though I've been extremely productive).
I made the keto cookies @kelleyish posted about! They're dangerously tasty but did take me two days to make (because life) so I doubt they'll be something I make frequently. I need to treat them like a fat bomb so I don't eat them all at once.
When prepping for this recipe I had erythritol and xantham gum shipped to me but the erythritol bag split open spilling sugar alllll up inside the box. Amazon shipped me a new four pound bag the next day so now I'm swimming in the stuff.
Yes, Kevin and I did go to Costco to buy toilet paper yesterday. We're one of those. But we didn't go crazy and only bought one pack although we did stock the house up with essentials just in case we need to live the quarantined introvert life. It was our most expensive Costco trip yet, but on top of doomsday prep purchases we also hadn't been in several months so it was more than time.
I've been on several walks the last few weeks and every time I go out I have such an enjoyable experience. Need to remember this whenever I try to convince myself against getting out the door. Especially now that the sun will be out later I'm looking forward to incorporating walks back into my regular routine. Hoping that Kevin can do daycare pick up today so I can get outside and enjoy the 70 degree weather after work tonight!
Here's to a delightful week to us all!
stay fed and safe and adequately stockpiled folks
The way that Dream is nothing but a child to doomsday trio is going to haunt my brain !!
Like, imagine
You are young, and you are strong, and you have seen things, had things happen to you, that no one should. You're smart and you will never die in a way that matters, and one day you will know death intimately.
Imagine seeing that !!! Knowing that death will never touch you, that lives are nothing more than sparks on a good day, ants on a bad day, and finding himself caring for one.
I have more thoughts but they're incomprehensible. I adore immortals though
:)
i like to think that doomsday preparations took multiple days.

Dream straightened his back, rolling his shoulders. His cloak (longer and thicker than his usual-- better for enduring the arctic cold) slipped from the sharp edges of his shoulderguard and pooled behind him, ruffling a few maps that he'd discarded there. His mask obscured his face, but judging from the soft rush of breath that left him, he might've yawned.
Philza passed him a mug of tea.
"You can stay the night, you know," Phil stated casually. The boy had been joining him and Techno during daylight hours to plan for the upcoming battle, but he disappeared into the cold each night. Yesterday, he didn't even say goodbye. "Might be easier. You can get a head start in the morning if you don't have to travel." Dream watched him, silent behind his mask. "I have a guest room for you," Phil continued, "Nice and private."
Dream took the mug in both hands, fingers splayed along the ceramic. He was cold. "I appreciate that. Really. But it's, uh... that won't be necessary."
This was a part of being in your early 20s, Techno explained a few days ago. A need for independence yet no life experience to know what it means to be responsible in the first place. All Phil saw, really, was a kid with cold hands.
Phil sat beside him-- or, rather, as close as he could without crumpling a map. "You're making a poor host of me," he replied, lightheartedly.
Dream seemed to ignore him. "What's this?"
Hi! Doomsday trio prompt- The Most Hated Breakfast Food. Not the best. The worst.
this is SUCH a good prompt and i didn't do it correctly :') here's what my brain did instead. at least it was breakfast themed?
part of the doomsday preparation drabbles
--------------------
Breakfasts Prepared in The Days Before Battle (aka how do you feed a young man, an immortal birdman, and a piglin in one meal?)
Day 1: Oatmeal and toast. A simple dish, but sincerely one of the most beautiful and put-together meals Dream has ever seen. He didn't expect them to feed him at all, much less prepare a bowl of well-arranged, colorful fruits in a vintage bowl. He stood in the kitchen, frozen. Eating in front of Techno and Phil might mean taking his mask off in front of them, and he was tempted to grab the food and eat in another room, like an anxious dog. He settled instead on tilting the mask up a bit. They saw his mouth, and they didn't make any indication that they even noticed. Techno had three bowls, Phil had one and a half, and Dream had one (he was too embarrassed to ask for more).
