How tall is Dorephan??

I’ve seen different heights in the models and screenshots ;; First is these screenshots from AOC, with a standing comparison amongst the zora npcs that are up to his waistline:

Here’s the BOTW model on the left (source), and the TOTK model on the right (source) that’s significantly larger:

By going into both games with him sitting on his throne, the model size seems to not have really changed from botw:

I’m just gonna go by the screenshot from AOC as the definitive height, as one of the exported standing models may have exported incorrectly. Or maybe he got a growth spurt? lol

felt like sharing my headcanon for Mipha and Sidon's mother – this is Queen Runala :]

as you can see Dorephan's genes hardly contributed to Sidon's creation. also i imagine he was a grumpy person when he was younger. Runala definitely put him back in his place a lot and he had no choice but to chill

(ask me questions about her I'd love to answer them :] )

A lot of people seemed to like the design I did for Sidon and Mipha's buff mama, so I thought I'd add some things about her, and her relationship with Dorephan!

🌊 Her name was Solaile, which both follows the musical naming schemes of the Zora royal family (Do re, Mi fa, So la, Si do) and also is similar to the name Soleil in French, meaning the sun.

🌊 Dorephan married into her family and originally came from an oceanic Zora clan. You cannot look at that man's shapes and tell me he was originally built for land, he looks like he'd take one step and fall over. The name Dorephan is also one he adopted upon marrying into the family.

🌊 Queen Solaile was fearless and had a spitfire attitude, facing issues head on and even throwing herself into danger if it meant protecting her people. Where Dorephan is careful and calculated, she was proactive (and maybe a bit reckless). They balanced each other out extremely well. Dorephan misses that sense of balance she brought, and became even more cautious after she passed - esp over Mipha and Sidon.

Something that pisses me off so bad about the totk zora quest is the fact that they (shittily) addressed Sidon's trauma with Mipha but completely ignored Dorephan's and completely sidelined him like duuuuude. There's so much dialogue in botw that not even implies, directly fucking shows that Dorephan and Mipha were extremely close and that Dorephan absolutely blames himself for Mipha's death. You're gonna sit here and tell me that old fart doesn't have even a drop of PTSD in him and is gonna be completely okay letting one of his kids go on yet another dangerous destiny adventure. Yeah fuck it lets just drop him off somewhere because of off camera injury fuck me I guess. I'm just saying that it'd have been way more interesting if Sidon's issues tied more into his relationship with Dorephan, and Yona + Link could encourage Sidon to stand up for himself and his autonomy ALONGSIDE confronting his own grief and insecurities. Like oh my godddd get real idc how much of a "chill Dad" Dorephan is meant to be if I was him and I had one kid die in The War™ and then years later the other kid wants to go on a mission related to The War 2™ I'd probably pop a blood vessel. Like that shit should have been WAY MORE MESSY than it was.

All the unique Zora... or mostly unique as the black one from the right is Khira and her pallet swap is Chroma, but the files were still marked NPC and not UMii so yeah... unique Sidon head does not fit into the mask. the model has separate head model when he wears the mask that hides big portions of his head X"D (Also will he grow as large as Dorephan? there might be something about rulers of Zora that make them grow larger than typical Zora, as Muzu is still normal adult size and Dorephan? that's a big boy) Once again past champion is smaller that others. She is still a teen Zora then.

My headcanon is that Zora growth is different from Hylian. The proportions change for a time until some early teen years and then they just grow bigger. So Adult Mipha would look same as teen, but closer in hight to Chroma or Yona OH also YONA! She is older that Sidon right? Probably still younger that Mipha but still, older that Sidon... nice. (I like Yona, she is cute and they make nice pair with Sidon <3) One more thing. I like Dorephan costume so much more in TotK, but Sidon got sillier in TotK X"D

King Dorephan and his wife must have had a hell of a height difference.
