Yeah the new designs are disappointing but what’s even more disappointing is that genshin just stopped trying when making brown or at least tan characters after natlan. None for the lantern rite, none for nodkrai, none for dorman port and none for Snezhnaya.

And yes it is the same amount of disappointment as it is seeing the girls all have such revealing clothes but out of all of that, all the characters that has been released since natlan why is ifa the only one who has any melanin?

And if your excuse is “it’s cold so they obviously won’t have warm skin tones” then you can’t say that because if that was true then sumeru and natlan would have been way different and they weren’t. Climate isn’t an excuse and it never has been in a game where faeries, spirits, gods, etc are roaming the earth like it’s normal.

It’s just no excuse at this point and seeing them literally give up on character designs like this is extremely disappointing and in many ways disrespectful towards the player base

Adding onto my ramble about how we’ll enter Sumeru because you know I just can’t help myself. I think that we’ll leave Dorman Port by boat in order to enter Sumeru.

I always thought ‘The Chasm’ would lead us into another country—

But it’s actually coming in 2.6 and it’s a massive mining district that’s a part of Liyue. Morax and Azdhaha supposedly fought there. Still could lead us out of Liyue, but probably not.

Anyways, I think Dornman port is here—

Because it’s Mondstadt’s main trading hub and we can see that the river leads into Cider Lake. So goods an easily be transported down the river. There’s also this place in the expeditions—

That we cannot visit but can send people on expeditions too. It’s hard to see where the river is coming from though, but if that’s the ocean then it’d certainly be a good place for a port. In terms of location we’ve only got this from an NPC to go off—

Which I don’t even know what to make of because does that mean this (potential) stretch of ocean?

And would that be considered ‘too far by boat’? I think the NPC means it’s not worth the journey time, but then he needs to go there for his research so surely that shouldn’t matter? If they’re talking about chartering a little bloody row boat then obviously that would be too far but I can imagine a ship like the Alcor, or something like a sloop, would be able to do it.

I honestly don’t know where Sumeru will be on the map, maybe somewhere above Mondstadt if I was to fit it into my theory. My dumb self always thought Sumeru was going to be an ENTIRE desert area (because all RPG’s have a desert, an ocean area and a volcano lol) but then the Aloy stories on WEBTOON show it as lush with jungles. The take here, I’m a fucking idiot who doesn’t know geography and forgot India (which Sumeru is based on) isn’t an entire desert and has jungles lmaooo

Anyways that’s my unasked for theory, take it as you will— i honestly just what more Mondstadt in my life lmao
